My Logitech Z-640 Computer Speakers emit no sound

I have checked all mute buttons and connections and cannot find a problem with the speakers. I found that the volume was low on the biggest speaker but when I turned it up the music played 'crackily' and briefly. Is there a bigger problem going on? This computer is ancient and recently experienced a power outage.

Thanks for any help you may have to offer me =)

Logitech repair

Sounds like you may have a lack of connection. It's not uncommon for the receiving jack to become dirty. Try plugging them into a stereo if you have one and see if the problem persists.

If you have determined that the problem is not the speakers or wiring but in the computer, try downloading and installing the latest driver.

Hi,

I assume that you are trying to run them from a pc, try plugging them into another sound source like tv headphone socket or a media player to see if any sound is emitted from these, if sound is heard then its to do with your computer. Check your sound output settings to make sure the pc isn't muted or turned down and ensure that you are plugged into the green socket on the back of the pc.

We connected our z 5300 speaker to a new computer. and get no. sound. Is there a driver that needs to be installed. the last computer no longer works.

Did you open your speaker ICON and check to see that you don't have the audio muted? I have seen a lot of customers complain that their NEW speakers don't work but they have their audio set to mute.

Open the Sound control panel in the computer and verify that the output is set to external speakers. You can verify by playing with the System Alert sounds; this will weed out application problems. There are a few applications that have the sound output selection crossed up on some computer models - selecting the internal speakers will send the sound to the external speaker jack(s) and vice versa.

If you have headphones or a different set of speakers, try them just make sure the computer is not the problem.

Logitech Z4 speakers not working at all. Checked all connections, computer registering them?... but when I plugged my mobile phone earphones in front jack there's still no sound?!

Please click on the Volume icon in the system tray and make sure that the speakers or other volumes are not muted. Windows has a habit of muting things on its own. And unless there is sound going to the speakers the headphone jack on the front of speakers will not function.

Logitech speaker problem

Verify that the audio lead is connected to the correct line out on the computer. Check the sliders in the windows volume control are correct and mute is unticked. Try plugging some headphones into the computer to hear if the PC is actually producing an output.
