In standby mode (red led on/after the led stops from blinking), press "Display", "5", Volume (-)", "Power on" on the remote control in sequence, self diagnostic screen will be display, let me know the what is on the screen to diagnose where the fault came from.
the number of red light flashes indicate where the fault lies...sony error codes are easy enough to find if you google the model with the number of flashes.hope this helps somewhat as you dont say how many blinks!!
regards,steve.
ps.line output transformer failure rates are quite high on these sets, usually resulting in two red blinks-pause-two red blinks-pause etc...
Hi,
Flashing standby light is an error code that is specific, there would be pause of 3 seconds in flashing, so count pause to pause and let me know that how many times red standby light is blinking to diagnose problem.
Thanks.
The unit is shutting itself down because a problem was detected internally. When this happens, the standby light should blink a repeated pattern. Please count the number of blinks and post the number here. That will indicate the circuit in which the problem occurred.
Here is the info on your problem. These are problems that have been found in the field.
Found cold solder on IC201 on the A Board. IC201 P/N 875210025 CRT Driver
Found IC9001 on the C Board defective. IC9001 875936083 TDA6111Q/N4 Video Output
White balance failure 5 times 5:0 or 5:1 • Video OUT (IC9001-IC9003) is faulty. • No raster is generated.
(not balanced) (C Board) • CRT cathode current detection
• CRT drive (IC201) is faulty. (A Board) reference pulse output is small.
• G2 is improperly adjusted. (see Note 2)
This sounds like the HV protection circuit is cutting off the TV due to a high current event in the set. This could be a problem in the High Voltage section of your TV (Horizontal output transistor, Integrated High Voltage Transformer, and y of the deflection components, and or the CRT in cases of shorts).
I would suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics, you should have an experienced TV technician troubleshoot and repair this problem. This is due to the nature of the dangerous voltages that are present in the television.
