Hi,didn't realize it was a sub zero,if the frost or ice is on the inside back wall of the fridge section on the left side you could have a freon leak in the evaporator coil,if that's where it is and if it's under 12 years old the coil is covered under warranty,if you write back tell me where the frost is and send the model number and the year it was made and i can help you out better,if it's a side by side open the freezer door and look at the top hinge and you'll see a tag there with all your info,if the freezer is on the botom open the fridge door and look at the top hinge and the tag will be there.also like i said on one of your other questions frost can also come from the door being left open,it's not from the controls being turned up to high, controls should be on 5 or 6 or if it's digital freezer on 0 and 37 in the fridge section.good luck and hope this helps you out.one more thing with sub zero, very important to clean out the coil and cabinet, you can shut down the machine or unplug it,there's a quick disconnect up top behind the white cover on the left side.get a shop vac with a brush attachment on it and clean the face of the coil off and all the walls and ceiling, next get a towel and cover the opening where the front grill goes,of course this is with the front grill off and the left side cover off, cover the opening and set the shop vac up to blow, stick the hose under the towel and blow through the coil, lift up the towel and vac up all the dust that blows out,do this a few times and then go on the other side and blow through the coil where the fan blade is,also grease sometimes gets up on the coil from cooking, the grease gets airborn and with the fan blowing up in the top the grease can get on the coil,if so get some grease remover and spray the coil down and if it's on the front grill spray that down too,you have to clean the coil at least once a year or your gonna have problems with it,the towel will keep the dust from blowing into your kitchen,it works for me.hope this helps and good luck with your subby,i think it's the best machine out there.

SOURCE: I have about 15 yr. old Sub-zero Refrigerator.

Try to defrost it by un-plugging it, and letting the frost melt. Also, you could try to up the temp settings inside the fridge or freezer and not have it set at the lowest setting. Try the recommended setting from the manufacturer.

Frost developing inside the refrigerator on the bottom two shelves

Lets go over the way a sealed system works. There is a highj side and a low side. The low side is the side that passes through the evaporator coils inside the machine. Most times on the freezer side only, but sub zero has independent sealed systems for each side. Once it goes throug the evaporator its then condensed into a liquid state, the high side. This is also the hot side. Well, lower pressures in the low side would logically mean lower temperatures. So for the refridgerator not to freeze more freon is used on it to keep the low side pressure higher than normal, giving the cooling effect verses freezing. So, and here is the bad part, if you are seeing ice build up in the refridgerator side you have a freon leak some where allowing the pressure to be less than required to keep it above freezing. Call a service technician and depending on how the model, sub zero warranty is parts and labor covered for the first 6, and only parts from the 6-12 year.

Frost on back of refrigerator, left side

Just frost or a puddle? If it's a puddle cause by melting frost with no where to go then you had my problem. A clogged drain. First defrost the drain, a hair dryer works well, blow or snake it out then install the factory drain heater fix. Plugs right in and works like a charm. I've had my sub zero 550 for more years than I can remember. I'd buy another one in a minute. Good luck!

Water dripping from the bottom of the freezer drawer

Hello,

Your unit has auto defrost. Remove the food from the bottom section and see if you have some frost/ice blocking the bottom vent. If it is blocked, using a hair dryer....remove the frost/ice and then you may have to remove the inside rear panel to unblock the drain hole behind the panel.....

Take care ......

Sub zero refrig - ice forming inside

The solution posted previously is TOTALLY WRONG. A Sub Zero ref doesn't have a heating element in the fresh food section. Only in the Frozen food section. It has 2 totally separate systems for each section. 2 Compressors and 2 evaporators. They share a condenser. If you are having ice build up in the refrigerator then the problem you are having is a refrigerant leak in the fresh food evaporator. You need to have a certified tech come out and replace the evaporator in your refrigerator section of your Sub Zero. Not sure what you are asking about the thermostat.
