I need a manual for a brother xl-5340.(sewing machine)

    I need a manual so I can at least sew a single stitch. I don't know any of the settings and I'm sure that it is as simple as setting dial to the appropriate#'s. I have tried everything, tension is too high and thread clogs @ bobbin. Thank you, Sandie.

Try a new needle, making sure it is put in properly. A bent needle can break thread. Make sure top tension is set properly.

Have you checked that the tiny screw in the bobbin is not loose, sometimes this creates this problem for me or if the bobbin size is incorrect.

SOURCE: The needle on my brother

Hi. Check to make sure that the flat side of the needle shank is facing to the rear (away from you), that the needle isn't bent, and that it is inserted as far up as it will go.

The needle on my brother XL 5340 sewing machine does not appear to go down far enough to catch the lower thread.
Hi. Check to make sure that the flat side of the needle shank is facing to the rear (away from you), that the needle isn't bent, and that it is inserted as far up as it will go.

Does the Brother XL-5340 do an overlock stitch? If it does do I need to change the foot and to which foot? Thanks
There is an overedge stitch (page 38) that uses the regular presser foot.
