Any of the older Singer manuals will give you this info...here's a PDF for your machine...

http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/manuals/singer-model-201-sewing-machine-manual.pdf

If that doesn't help scroll down on this page there's a simple diagram on there.

SOURCE: Singer Sewing machine

I found the same numbers on my Singer, but learned that the 13608M is not the serial number. I finally found it on the bottom of the machine. It typically begins with either a single or double letter. You can find the Serial No. and Year of Issue at http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html. You can also order a replacement manual. Another helpful site might be http://www.ismacs.net/Singer/singerdates.html.

Good luck.

Trying to find out what kind of Singer sewing machine that I have inherited serial number AL068209 model number 45223 Thanks

The ISMACS database, http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-al-series-serial-numbers.html , says that the AL068209 is a serial number to a model 201 in September 3, 1952. It probably didn't leave the factory until at least a year later. The manual for the 201 is available from Singer: https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/SINGER%20201_201-1_201-2_201-3_201-4%20and%201200-1%20Sewing%20Machines.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Repairing a Singer Sewing machine presser foot lifter.

Inside the foot the wires are connected to two different screws. They are obviously coming loose by being pulled.
1. Open the foot on the bottom.
2. Look where the screws are. You need to have the wires connected there.
3. Before connecting to screws: tie a knot in the wire from the inside of the foot pedal where the wire protrudes through the hole.
4. Now, tightly connect the wire to each screw. Apply bottom of bracket. Now, sew!!!!!!!!!!

Wiring diagram model 7466 i am trying to reconnect a foot pedal on my singer sewing machineu

The foot pedal is generally plugged in on the right side of your machine. There should be a hole that matches the end of the plug. The user's manual is available as a free download on Singer's site.

Light dims when you sew

the problem is that the cord that was replaced on it is too light for the sewing machine. some companies sell cords that are made with 18awg wire 18awg wire can only deliver enough electricity to run the motor sapping up all of the power from the light as soon as you push the pedal. you need to get a cord made by singer or rewire your cords with 16awg wire... 16awg wire is the standard wire for all vintage singer sewing machines it keeps the light nice and bright...... hope this helps
