Hi, I have recently moved into a flat with central heating and hot water from a Potterton Puma 80. I have troubles with the hot water. When turning on the hot water tap the boiler fires off and I get hot water but only after quite a long time and it only lasts for a couple of seconds and then it gets cold again so I have to turn off the tap and try again. Sometimes the hot water then stays, sometimes not. The CORGI stated that remedial works are required "Boiler compartment does not have ventilation". Can that affect the functionality of the boiler? Any advise appreciated!

the problem was solved on my system by replacing thermostatic valve on shower and putting non return valves on hot and cold feed to shower . the problem was caused by cold water getting into the hot water line through the shower hope this helps

To avoid having a flame in the absence of water flow, the device you mentioned, 'diaphragm,' detects if adequate water is flowing to avoid a dangerous condition. Check on the housing of it for an adjustment screw; it may have a dot of sealant on it since these normally can be adjusted. It sounds as if it is misjudging the quantity of water flowing through and causing the annoying cycling.
