I accidently touched the wires together while it was on and immediatly the unit shut itself off.I plugged the wires back in the speaker and turned it on but shut itself off after 5 sec. I unplugged everything and plugged just the power cord back and the problem still persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The audio output ICs or transistors are blown. Solid state elctronics are not very forgiving when they are shorted. it takes one tiny instantance and the componets will fry. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will need to have this unit serviced or replaced, And never ever work on any type of electronics with the power still on. try to plug it off then look at back and try to blow to your fun or try to spin it with something a bit and plug in it back it should work and do not keep your fun to close to wall or cables
You have a bad sensor that is not sensing when to turn the heat off, it just heats full on the whole time, you can check sensor with the power off and a meter on continuity, the sensors are located on the heating tube that the coils are inside. the sensors should have shut your dryer down but maybe your sensor is stuck closed with would make it work and not tell the dryer when to turn off heat, or your wires are touching eachother where the sensor is located, so you accidently or defectively the wires are connected and not running through the sensor check the wires and replace the sensors. there are a few sensors on my dryer, they are small devices that sit on the exhaust tube and the heating coil can, simply use your probes to check for continuity on the two lead wires to the sensor, and make sure the wires are seperated and not touching eachother where they plug in to the sensor, one may have gotten bent over and now you have a jumper. same as if you pull the wires off the sensor and touch them together. I have a bad sensor and touched my wires together and now my dryer works, but is dangerous, and needs monitored until you get a new sensor in place and hook up correctly
Hi, There are so many safety controls on most heaters that are designed to shut down the heater if something like this were to happen. I have only seen this happen once in 33 years where the residents were gone shopping, and the heater did not shut off. The plants were all dead as were there pet bird. I believe what is happening, if the thermostat is good, you have a wire in the thermostat cable touching together somewhere. The Red wire to the White which will cause the unit to run all the time. I would first turn off the power to heater and pull the cover and the front of the stat off to excess the wires. Take loose the red wire and it should shut off after a time delay. If it does shut off then the thermostat is faulty. If it continues to run and heat, look closely at the wires at the stat to make sure they are not touching together some where. Check at the heater also where the stat wires come in to see if they are touching somewhere. If you can't see anything, take the red wire off at the heater where it terminates to unit and this should stop the unit. If it does you will know that the wiring from the heater to the stat is touching in the wall somewhere. We use an ohm meter to check continuity on the wires to see which ones are touching. If the heater continues to run with the wire disconnected from it, depending on the age of the unit and if it has a circuit board on it, it would have a shorted connection from hot to w or heat. I would say you have a faulty stat and or wiring touching somewhere calling for heat to be on all the time. This is all it can be. Do the checks I have said and keep me posted on how you are doing. It could be that your system is activating thermal protection or short protection (low ohm). Perhaps there is poor airflow around the unit. If not, check the speaker wire for any shorts (wires touching) or crimps. Try disconnecting all the speaker wires from the unit and reconnecting them one speaker at a time. Wait long enough to see if the unit shuts off before connecting another pair of speaker wires.
the power interrupt switch is detecting a short in one of the heating coils. With the power off remove the side cover pull out the insulation and disconnect the wire to one of the heating elements. Make sure it isn't touching anything and turn the power back on and see if the problem continues. If it does reconnect the wire and do the same to the other heating element. Be careful. If you feel uncomfortable doing this call an electrician.
Ok what this means is that some wires are touching in the back of unit causing a short (your system is protecting itself) look for wires touching and make sure its hooked up right
