Yes, cooling fan could be a problem. Just see whether it goes off during before shut off. If yes, the TV might need service. To know whether the fan goes off first or the TV, stick one side of any thin vibrating membrane such as a silver paper (like the one you see in cigarette packets) on the fan outlet, without blocking it, so that you can see whether it stops before the TV shuts down. Alternatively you can hand an inflated balloon which keeps flying off from the area of the fan and shall stop when the fan stops. I suggest this, in order to save your time looking at the rear all the time until the TV stops. Even then, one is likely to overlook whether the fan stops or TV stops first.

Actually have the 50in same model, TV power goes off after on for 30 minutes and takes 10 minutes to turn back on. Sleep timer is off.

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

Hello
Check the cooling fans at the top working well or not. If found damaged, replace it. It is normal that a plasma TV will heat up to an extent. If it overheats, cooling fans should be suspected.

Panasonic 50 inch plasma

You should call for warranty service. If the set is very new try to get it exchanged.

There are some very heavy duty power supplies and many high power matrix drivers used in Plasma sets.

The description sounds like the noises are very loud. It is normal with any of these TV sets, if you put your ear right up to the back of the set at the vent holes you will hear some noises. These would be some acoustic harmonics from the power supplies and related circuits.

I am wondering if it is possible that there is something that is becoming less stable. If the set is working very well without any failure, so-far this is a very good sign. Before it gets to be a problem, I would have this checked.

On many models of these sets, they use fans for cooling specific areas. A bad fan can cause noise.
