Screen freezes when playing my screen freezes or it turns black and stops working

which means your blueray drive is faulty.
contact sony or look on ebay for replacement blueray drive.

That would suggest the game is dirty or damaged try cleaning the gold connectors with a cue tip and something like white spirit

as your firmware is damaged.

dont worry. this will just take a bit long time but once you start system uppdate it will automatically
download the firmware and update it.

The screen is black,
Sometimes the PSP's will freeze for one reason or another. In most cases the psp will turn off within a minute and then restart itself. If not disconnect any power supply and remove the battery for a moment to manually reset it. Hopefully you saved recently.
