I had same problem- followed length of hose all the way to the end at back bottom of vacuum where it inserts into hard plastic s-shaped removeable attachment. Removed this attachment and SO MUCH junk was clogging it....(i carefully removed with end of hanger) Now works great.

No suction when I release the wand

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC28 doesn't seem to have suction through the hose, it's likely you have a blockage in the hose, wand or airway. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/dc28/dc28-animal/diagnosis-root-menu/dc28filterwashvid/wand-suction-dc28

This should resolve the issue, but if you need further help after giving this a try we're on hand to offer advice. Just give us a call 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA). If a repair or replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under our 5-year warranty.

Suction only coming through the wand when its replaced its not switching back to the upright. I have a dyson DC28 animal

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC28 doesn't seem to be working correctly. It sounds as though the change-over valve may be jammed - this diverts the suction to the hose when you remove the wand, and back to the cleaner head when you replace the wand on your machine.

You may find a blockage is jamming the valve - you can check for this using our online Support guide:

http://content.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1236&product=DC28-ANIMAL

If you can't find any obstructions, please get in touch with us directly as we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance. If you email us at [email protected], we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Jack

Poor Suction

The flexible hose between the beater bar housing and the connection to the dust bin might have come loose or has a hole in it. Check this hose for your low suction problem.

Dyson DC17 Animal does not have enough suction from the wand handle to power the mini turbine head. The wand handle has very little suction.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though your wand/hose assembly is blocked. Try following the blockage procedure in your user guide or visit our website's support section where you can use our self help guide to diagnose problems.

Suction from hose isnt strong enough. Vacuum

There is probably a clog on the U channel (little Gray tube that attaches to the Vac tubing). Pull it loose and look in side all the tubing.

Hose seems to have to much suction on animal dyson

Most hoses will have a rotary device near the business end which allows air to escape or bypass the suction end. Look for this and rotate or slide it back

Dyson Animal with no suction from floor brushes

Check the canister seal for dirt or gaps. This is normally where the vacuum leak is.

Dyson Animal, lost suction and bypass valve seems to be loose

Dear terrygivens, 2-17-2009 4:12am EST (USA)

Most suction problems are caused by a clog from picking up something you probably didn't see or if you have pets an accumulation of pet hairs!

To clear it out take a metal coat hanger and unbend it til it's straight, then bend the end and tape it so when you push it through to unclog your vac it doesn't rip the hose.

Push the coat hanger in from the bottom brush area through the opening where the suction is. Also push it in and out anywhere else you can......You'll probably find something clogged....keep working it til it loosens and intermittently turn on the suction.

If you have a second vac with a hose, use that hose for suction on the clogged vac!

This should do it!

Suction loss when handle is tipped back to clean carpet

can any one help,
Our Dyson Animal vacuum has plenty of suction when it is upright and the attachments are being used off the hose, but when the handle is tipped back to begin cleaning carpets the beater head is getting no suction. As the handle is being tipped back you can hear what sounds like a flapper valve in the body of the vacuum opening and then all the suction just goes away.
