HDMI HP Labtop to Mitsubishi HDMI not working

I have a dv7-1132nr Labtop and I have a 56 mitubishi DLP TV that is about 3 years old. When I hook up the HDMI cable the TV doesn't have any image and the labtop doesn't even register there is a DLP TV connected. When I hook it up the same way to the LCD TV it is fine.

Easy...first connect the hdmi cable between laptop and tv. Press and hold the 'fn' key on the laptop keyboard - bottom left corner. while holding the fn key, press and release the F4 key. This will toggle the laptop between its multiple display capabilities.

Press and holfn - press and release F4 until you get an image on the big screen.

Yes you can use a hdmi cable, or component cables connected to the audio input jacks. Don't forget to change the input with the remote to select the cd player for listening.

TV screen goes black, 43 lites appear and TV shuts off after 2 to 3 hrs of operation. It will restart OK however. 56" set is 4 yrs old, orig lamp in TV

If you have never replaced the lamp it is most likely to be the problem. Most lamps last 2-3 years under normal use.
