Update from device mgr

    joecoolvette Aug 30, 2012

Ahem,......1) I posted in the manner that I did to see if the user was indeed, using Windows 7. 2) There are no drivers available on Gateway Support for the GT5220 Desktop PC. Therefore there won't be any going to Device Manager, and rolling over, or updating, or deleting, drivers, because THEY AREN'T THERE. Does that mean there aren't any drivers available for Windows 7, and the GT5220 from another website? Dunno, show me. They do have to be written for THAT version, and date of BIOS program that is being used, by Gateway, however. .................and now back to you Bob.

Hi, im trying to install windows 7 ultimate onto my gateway. I bought it retail from best buy and am having problem with the install... is it factory set for me not to be able to install an operating...

If you bought a full retail version and not an upgrade, you may need to do a fresh installation of windows. You also need to make certain that your gateway model is able to upgrade to windows 7. Checking your computer's support page, there are no BIOS updates available. Your computer should be fully capable of upgrading to windows 7 from windows Vista. ALso looking at Gateway's support page for this model, there are no drivers offered for Windows 7. All drivers offered are for windows Vista. I have seen computers in the past that will not tolerate an operating system change from the system that was installed at the factory.

If you have a restore partition, you can back up your data, and do a clean install of windows after formatting your hard drive. You may also want to make recovery disks for your computer in case the Win 7 will take on your computer or you cannot get your hardware to work with Win 7 since Gateway offers no Win 7 drivers.
Good luck. Take precautions to back up data and be able to revert to your original factory settings if necessary.

Hi im using Gateway MX6448, initially i'm using Win XP and now i upgrade to Win 7, but i cannot find display Driver? Can U Help me, Urgent.

I checked the Gateway download site and only found the two video drivers listed on this page:

http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?ref=step&st=browse&platform=10022&model=10886&os=10405&type=10083

You can try these and if they do not work, I can only suggest that you get on your support site and chat with a technician to see if they have windows 7 drivers for your notebook that are not posted on their support site.

Video adapter driver for windows 7 for gateway 1450 solo. drivers in gateway site do not recognize win 7.

Your laptop has not support for Windows Vista or Windows 7. Other components of the system could not be recognized due to lack of drivers. Unfortunately you have to stick with Windows XP as it was originally thought.
