"insert smart chip" eror message - smart chip is in but nothing

Cut a small piece of cardboard or credit card plastic similar in shape to -- but just a bit smaller than -- the smart chip. Place the piece on top of the smart chip. Simultaneously slide both the smart chip and the piece of cardboard/plastic into the smart chip slot. Make certain you are inserting the smart chip with the proper end inserted first and with the contacts uncovered by the extra piece (On the LG Vu, the smart chip contacts will face down and the missing corner will be showing on the outside of the slot when the card is inserted properly.). If that doesn't do the trick -- see your cell phone provider and/or get a new phone.

your sim might be in the wrong way

its probably not sitting proper;y and making full contact

You are placing the smart chip on top of the smart chip holder. It's a little metal square where the smart chip should go. Lift up the metal square and place the smart chip underneath. I had to go to my local AT&T dealer to figure this out.

put the smart chip in the other way

smart chip means the SIM card.

try cleaning the metallic part of the SIM card with a cloth and the metal connectors on the phone with cotton bud etc.

Put it back and try again.

If not working grab another SIM card (working - friend's etc) to test.

If still not working, send to service centre.
If working for other SIM card then replace your own SIM card.

It is possible to put the sim card in backwards.  My daughter did and when we turned it around I no longer got the "smart chip" error message.

your phone is locked to att network that means your phone will only accept att sim card unless you unlock it. you can purchase unlock code from website www.cheapunlock.com or www.unlockitnow.com or www.yourunlockcode.com

You have to insert the smart card all the way in on these phones. You can use a pen cap or something to push it all the way in there until it goes all the way in and click and stays there. Then it will not say " insert smart chip" anymore.
