Tip & How-To about Baby Gear
Many parents worry about their toddlers safety when transitioning
them to a toddler bed. I would like to
give you a few tips that will help ensure your childs safety while putting your
minds at ease.
•
Choose a bed that is low to the ground - this
will not only make it easier for your child to get in and out of bed, but help
minimize the risk of injury
•
Install adjustable guardrails
•
Carefully select bed location - keep your childs
toddler bed away from hazards such as windows, doors, radiators and blind cords
•
Ensure the bed is sturdy
•
Consider placing something soft around the
perimeter of the bed such as a quilt or a rug to cushion a potential fall
•
Do not place the bed against a wall, your child
could get trapped between the bed and wall; place the headboard against a wall and leave the other side free (with a
guardrail)
•
Wait until your child is at least 2 until you
give them a pillow for their bed to avoid risk of suffocation
In case you wanted to know more about guardrails I have found a great article that explains why to use them and how to use them safely - http://www.parentingtoddlers.com/toddlerbedrails.html
