Hello,

What is the brand name and model of your printer? Make sure that your ink cartridges are precisely the correct cartridges for the brand and model that you are using. From what I have experienced ... if you try to use a used ink cartridge you will recieve an error.

SOURCE: Ink Tank not recognized

If a brand new ink tank is not recognized, it has a faulty chip. I took the chip off the faulty tank and replaced it with another one. That worked for me.

SOURCE: MP500 ink tank cannot be recognized error U043

I had the same problem. My mp630 is also only 4 months old. I replaced all colour ink cartrdiges(inc black), but was only able to release the function for detecting the ink levels for magenta and cyan. Yellow and black then started giving error message U043, with them alternating between working, but never working at the same time. Getting them all clicked in with the lights glowing red does not solve the problem, as once the printer cover is closed, the same error message turns up. The only thing that worked for me is moving the chip slightly out of alignment, by pushing the sliding chip holder, and I only had to do this twice before they all started working and the printer was unlocked.

SOURCE: canon mx310 wont print

Dear Sir, Thank you for answering. I phoned my comp. expert. He took the canon printer, as well as the previous canon printer, ( one which I used for about six months when it decided not to print) and I hope he can fix at least one of them before end of day.
Usually, and because of deadlines, etc. I pop out and buy a new one which is easier and faster and sometimes cheaper. I like to work real hard and I have to, but, I hate battling for hours on end with stuff that refuses to talk back to me. Now you can also see that I am a BBC baby.
Born Before Computers etc. and no patience.
Kind regards,
Wiebre

Error code U052 how do I get rid of it for good?

U052 is a temperature sensor in the works below the cartridges. Canon can ship you the part; it's not the inks cart, but then it's not for me to say 5 minutes with the power off or 20 with either a solvent cartridge (especially on any colors with stripe dropouts) or cleaning the works and reseating flex cables won't fix it. (Take it to a Canon shop per any surviving repair warrants; it's serious enough.)

I have changed the colour ink on my canon mp460 but it still say empty

CL41, this is the one you are using for your cartridge.

Did you change your cartridge with brand new one or refilled one??

If you did with refilled one, the ink level won't go back with full.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the method how printer measures the ink level.

1. Each cartridge has a serial number.
2. As soon as installation in printer, printer recognizes the cartridge by serial #.
3. And the printer starts to count the printing document.
4. After reaching certain print counting, the ink level will show "low ink"

So my answer is even if you refilled your cartridge, the ink level won't change,
since printer cannot weight the cartridge or.....some other technology to measure each color ink level.

Thanks.

HPC3180 PhotoSmart printer - works great - I use brand X ink cartridges, and they work fine. But I just formatted my computer and downloaded the latest HP driver and software. My printer just ran out of...

Not Familiar with brand "X".. Know about brand "X" washing powder anmd "DAZ". I take it is not the same.

OH! I hate the words "Just Formatted My Computer". Ypou have actual answered your own question, please please say you have the "OLD PRINTER PROG" or a copy lurking on a long forgotten copy CD?

Yes! it will be trial and error, reload the old version of your printer. New updates sometimes leave out differant suppliers and their progs, infact they may have fallen out, we will never know.

As a matter of interest, reinsert the old cartridge and see if it sees that though empty, then if fails to see that you have your answer.

Were's is "WV" I'm in the UK. Hope all works?

Colored refill ink cannot be recognized

It is called e5 error.
For Canon cartridges, after 4~5 refills, the color cartridge cannot be recognized by printer.

In this case...there is no solution so far...just replace with new cartridge.. that's it.
(To avoid e5 error, you need to make sure "plug out" the power, before take out your cartridge for refill. Yes... "plug out" the power cords!!!!

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

Reseat print cartridge and ink tanks, replace any very low ink one's. turn off printer, unplug electrical, remove usb on printer and computer. plug all back in, turn on. Alarm and message should disappear. Clean and realign with software.

Hi their My MP530 printer reads CHECK CARTRIDGE U052, the manual does not help, can anyone help me please?

The dreaded U052 error means that the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge is not responding .. Canon (like all printer mfgs) makes all it's profit from selling Ink .. so they fit these chips to try to prevent you refilling or using a 'compatible' replacement cartridge

You have to move the chip from the Canon cartridge to the 'compatible' and (it seems) the chips are particularly sensitive to static / damage .. many people end up blowing the chips during the swap over .. or even when fitting the original genuine cartridges to a brand new unit for the first time ...

If the unit is brand new, take it back and demand a replacement ... if you have just swapped over the chip onto a compatible cartridge, you can try buying a genuine Canon cartridge (which will have a new chip) = hopefully that will do the trick

Cannon MP600 error message U052

Hello all, I have had an MP600 for a few years now, and after paying about £50-£60 a set of inks i decided to use compatible ones and i also spent £20.00 on a ink resetter from Sudhaus http://www.patronenhandel.de/shop/en/Redsetter/MP-Serie/MP-600/mit-Refill-Set
After about a year of owning the MP600 i got the dreaded U052 error, so i went back to genuine inks, however this did not clear the error. i then decided to telephone Canon and they advised me to clean the print head thoroughly. If you look at the print head there is a white plate with 2 screws either side, i rmoved that CAREFULLY and cleaned behind it, i reinstalled everything back to normal and 2 years later i am still running perfect with no issues what so ever...I'm not sure what resolved the issue but i now refill my genuine cartridges myself and reset the chip with the Sudhaus resetter. To refill your cartridge use the tube inside the genuine ink cartridge DO NOT refill from the top, you will see the 2 arrows on the GENUINE ink cartridge pierce between there and use a long syringe to refill.
Hope this helps people in the future.

NB. I have seen some suggestions that canon's have a 'Service Mode' that allows you to disable the cartridge chip checking and allow you to print no matter what .. however I've never found any details ... perhaps some-one else has the details ??

MP500 ink tank cannot be recognized error U043

Same problem - two solutions I found helped me work out mine. One said contacts needed to be cleaned and it worked to use a Q-tip and alcohol or just click it in position several times until it recognizes the cartridge - this may work. Another said that they got it to work by installing a brand new cartridge - cool, but I have one full of ink it won't recognize. So I pulled the little circuit board off a used cartridge (like you need to do with some refills) and put it on the cartridge that it wouldn't recogrnize - works great. Still haven't figured out how to get it to acknowledge ink levels though. Canon really should be more consumer friendly since these problems seem to be intended to compel the use of proprietary cartridges.

MP500 ink tank cannot be recognized error U043

I had the u043 problem on the blue cartridge on my mp830.

I was using non-original replacement inks but re-using the chips from the originals - replacing the blue cartridge would cause it randomly work but i then noticed the chip holder was not centred so I realigned it and hey presto! the problem was solved first time.
