I forced the old disc out then put the computer back together. Now drawer opens at will. I can close it but after a few moments it opens itself again and stays open Inserting a CD doesn't change anything.

You broke it. Spend $30 to buy a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

SOURCE: my cd/dvd opens then closes

> I've already replaced it once

Well, I've seen CD-drives that would re-open, when you try to close them -- it is _falsely_ detecting a "jam" as the tray is closing, and then just re-opens the tray, rather than "forcing" itself to close.

Replacing the CD-drive is the only way to fix that type of "false-positive" jam-detection conditions.

But, since you've done that, either you were unlucky-enough that the replacement drive was also "defective", or, you have a computer-virus on your computer that is maliciously issuing commands to the CD to "open-the-tray".

Dvd player won't stay open

It seems like the gear has skipped, you will no doubt have to take it apart and reset the gear to the proper position, There may be a "C" ring retaining the gear to the spindle, you should be able to remove it with a small screwdriver - you may want some safety glasses.

When taking it apart you may want to use some cardboard to press the screws into so you remember where they came from and don't lose any parts.

Usually there is a space in the gear that should be about 45 from the start of the gear at the closed position. You want to make sure in most cases that the tray is either in the fully open or fully closed position before attempting to reposition any gears.

I find it useful to take pictures of each step of the process so you know exactly where everything should be when you put it back together.

Hoped that helped. Good luck.

3 year old jammed dvd in bluray. How to get the dvd out and restore operation of machine

A DVD should fit without a problem in a blue ray player; but I suspect your use of the word "jammed" indicates something beyond it fitting of not.

Two possibilities: easiest is to find a small unmarked hole somewhere above the tray (assuming it has a tray) where the disc enters the unit. With the power off, insert a long straight pin (opened paper clip works) into the device until you feel a slight resistance. Press just a bit further and you should see the drawer begin to open (don't force it). Once the drawer begins to open, remove the pin and plug the unit in. Hopefully you have now engaged the mechanism that will allow the disc to eject.

If you cannot find the hole, or if this doesn't work, you'll have to remove the cover to get to the mechanism. This is usually a handful of Phillips head screws on the sides and back. If you Panasonic often marks the screws that remove the cover with a small arrow next to the hole to aid in disassembly.

The DVD tray is jammed. Before it wouldn't stay closed, now it won't even open.

The drawer of your DVD player is probably simply getting stuck by the dirt.
At the same time, people get used to inserting DVD discs directly with fingerprints or scratches over and over again. As a result, the DVD contaminations will also affect how to fix a jammed DVD player.

DVD drawer does not open when you push button to open DVD drawer

The most likely cause is damage, which should be seen with the eye. It could be a belt, broken cogs/teeth in the sledge mechansim, or a micro leaf switch bent out of place.

My disc is jammed and won't come out.

hello,
the reason the disc is jammed is because the player did not sit the disc properly.

what you will have to do is;
get a screw driver, open the dvd player, you will find a mechanism that presses the cd down to the lens, you unscrew it too and remove the disc that is jammed in it.

press open to see if it would open up, if it does, then you can screw it back together, but if it does not open then there is a fault with the mechanism that open and closes the player. so you carefully check it out and put it back in order and it would start working.

goodluck

My CD drawer will not open or close

I had a mini system with the same problem, out of guarantee so was either fix it myself or bin it.
I opened the unit and removed the whole cd drawer assembly from it's housing. I then, not really recommended, plugged it back in and by pressing the open/close a few times the drawer finally opened. Put it all back together and it now works fine. I think what had happened is that I use the cd player once every couple of months and combined with the lack of use is the fact that there are several smokers in the living room and basically it got jammed by a build up of nictotine or whatever.

take it back to the store or repair shop. Same thing happened to a friend and because it was new, the machine was exchanged.

My Samsung N501 dvd tray will not open

All I can suggest is unplug the unit. Undo the screws holding the case top on I think there is two each side and most likely 1-3 on the back. Lift the lid off. If you look where the disc sits under a plastic cross member you will find that two to four screws hold that cross beam down. Undo those and lift it up. Remove the disc.

While on bits I would suggest using a cotton bud/ q tip dipped in some mentholated spirits, rubbing alcohol/isopropanol or even vodka to gently clean the laser optic by placing the top on and gently twisting side To side

Do not force the drawer out. If the laser is in the upright and level position then by turning the large cog you should be able to wind the deck down and release the drawer.

You can put it back together by just reverse of how you opened it.

It's easy to do to release a disc so don't worry about it but please ensure its un plugged

My ex77eb recorder keeps coming up u61 on the display and then tells you self check did not complete, it tells you to press ok, it then says the unit will open ang go onto stanby, it doesnt do this it...

Do you have young kids. I have had the same problem, tried everything. Left it unplugged overnight - no difference. Tried forcing it to reset - no difference.
Unit is still under warranty but I have caught my kids putting discs in it before so I completely unplugged it the flipped it upside down a few times and could hear something rattle inside, then all of a sudden an earing fell out of the dvd drawer. Plugged back in, let it go through recovery and hey presto back to normal.
If the dvd drawer is not staying open as mine was you can force it opened by having the unit plugged in but switched off then hold down program up and the stop button on the unit simultaneously.
Hope this helps.
