If water is constantly draining first thing to check is the water dump solenoid. There is a button on the front of the control panel that is marked clean or purge I believe. This energizes a valve to dump water out of the trough when manually cleaning the unit. This valve also energizes automatically when the unit is in harvest. Since minerals are heavy and don't freeze they will build up in the trough. This water dump helps empty out the trough and keep minerals from building up in the unit. I have seen these valves get small debris jammed in them and constantly bleed water out. If that is the case you DO NOT want to plug the line to keep it from draining you want to replace the valve. I can not stress this enough. Mineral build up WILL tear this machine down over a short amount of time.

Ice maker won't stop filling. Makes a little ice, but water is almost constant into the maker

The water control valve is shot. It's not making ice because there is a constant flow of water into the ice tray. Shut the water off at the feed point for the fridge for now. If the drain gets plugged you're going to have a small catastrophe on your hands.

Here's a procedure to test it to be sure:

Check the dump valve if water is seeping through the dump valve then the water inlet valve will be adding water to sump all the time to replace water lost. Now if water is running over sump into ice bin then look at water inlet valve.

Where would a scotmans mv450 leak there is no constant water running enough to make the ice

if water was leaking you would see it. sounds like your not getting water, check water shut off valve to make sure it is on, check water filter make sure it is not stopped up, check water inlet valve make sure it is opening and is not stopped up, check to make sure water supply line is not kinked.

Hoshizaki Model KM 630 MAE

Look for a stuck float switch. unit fills with water for 1 minute, then the board "looks" at the float to "see" if there is enough water in the unit to run. If float switch is stuck down, it tells the unit there is not enough water and the unit stays in the fill cycle causing the sump to overflow and send water down the drain constantly. Compressor will not run till the board senses that there is enough water to run.

Ice machine is only making flakey size ice. Machine is clean and filters have been changed. Water is flowing and cold; it appears that the machine is in constant operation.

sounds like there is a problem with the water in the sump escaping. Sometimes, the plastic grate under the evap plates break and pieces get stuck in the dump valve. It is a triangular piece that the pump attaches to via a hose. It is spring loaded and the pieces prevent it from seating, thus, water leaks into the drain that you will not notice. When the water level in the sump gets low enough, it goes into a harvest and drops small slivers of ice. I'd check that out first.
Hope this helps.

I have the 10 year old freezer on bottom and i constantly get a layer of ice on the bottom of my freezer

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Ice Maker
Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Make sure the curtain is not torn and there are no leaks from the resivoir. If ok check to make sure you have enough water pressure to the machine. Make sure you have enough water passing through the valve during harvest cycle. To check... turn the timer cam to harvest cycle. Water should come in quickly behind the curtain on the right side and the timer should advance three minutes to freeze portion of cycle and stop running. Water should spray and form ice for approximately 25min. Then the timer advances for 5 minutes into harvest cycle and it refills with water again.
