Just bought the usb to serial drive cable to connect my computer to a new sewing machine. Followed instructions on download disk. Computer does not recognize the driver and does not indicate machine is connected when all cords are connected.
Can you see the new device in the device manager, you may need to install it, did you get disks, to install it if so go to add new hardware in the control panel and you may need to manually install the device. It will at some time ask for a disk, so have it ready, peace, Gym
you need to point the installation to the driver that is on that disk by clickind the setup on the disk, or clicking in the applet on "all files" , not just programs, once you click on all files you will see many things that were not there before, pick another heading like dirvers, vista, and it will self install, computers are not as smart as people think, you have to show it the exact progeam. Another way is to just click run, Browse, then you will see the drive that is in the dvd/cd drive and select setup. It's there your just not able to see it till you click on progream and select files instead

Right...the user guide actually walked my through is step as well. At the point where it asks for my disk, I choose the vista folder (which is my operating system) and I get an error msg that reads that there is no compatible software driver for my device and that I need to check that the device is compatible with Windows 32 bit systems. Don't know where to go from here.
i recently bought a dell laptop. i went to radioshack and purchased the gigaware usb transfer cable. i installed the gigaware driver on my xp machine,, i was prompted saying i wouldnt have to install it on vista. i run Windows easy transfer and get to the same screen that says plug in the transfer cable on both machines and windows will automatically detect it. it never detected and i have restarted the program multiple times. i even tried installing it on vista but vista wouldnt let me. i just want to transfer my files and thats it!! help
