How do you delete old email 'address'es in my computer file

Which email account ?

Erase Email Addresses in My Computer

Email addresses can be stored on a computer if you use email software, such as Microsoft Office Outlook and Yahoo Messenger Beta.

Deleting email addresses manually from these programs does not actually completely erase them from your computer.

To erase email addresses permanently, meaning that a hard drive recovery program will not be able to restore them if it is used, requires a process called formatting, which completely erases the information on a hard drive.

Click on the shortcut "My Computer," which you can locate on your desktop.

Right click "Local Disk (C:)" and select the "Format" option.

Change the "Allocation Size Unit" to "Default Allocation Size."

Click the "Start" button.

The email addresses, as well as the rest of the files on the hard drive, will now be erased.

Delete a Live Mail Email Address

Windows Live Mail is a part of the Windows Live suite of productivity and entertainment programs, and it is intended to be the new free email client for Windows beginning with Windows 7.

After trying Windows Live Mail, you may decide that you have added too many email addresses and that you would prefer to use the email client to check only one address.

Remove an email address from Windows Live Mail to reduce the clutter in your email inbox.
Launch Windows Live Mail, and browse to the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen.

Click "Accounts."

Click the email account that you would like to delete.

Click the "Remove" button.

A message will appear to remind you that any messages belonging to the email account that are not backed up in another location will be deleted permanently.

Click "OK" to confirm.

The account will be deleted immediately.

Click "Close" to return to Windows Live Mail.

Delete Hotmail Adresses

Log in to your hotmail account and click "Help."

Search for "Cancel Account" and select "Why are all my email messages gone?"

Expand the option that says "Close a free Hotmail account" and click "Windows Live Hotmail close account."

Click "Close Account" on the page that opens.

If you do not sign in to your account for 365 days, your account will also be deleted.

Hope this helps.

My hotmail e-mail account hasn't opened for weeks

Clear your browser history and temporary Internet folders if you are continually getting a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message when you log in.

The exact procedure for doing this depends on your operating system and browser.

If you continue to get see this message, it could indicate a problem with the Hotmail server.

Check the status of the network on a site like Down Right Now that reports server problems on popular sites.

Submit a support request on the Windows Live page.

On the Windows Live site, select "Hotmail" under "Standard Services."

A search screen will open that will allow you to check out a variety of Hotmail related support topics.

At the bottom of that screen, choose "get more help" and then "support."

A support form will open for you to complete and submit to the Hotmail team.

You will receive an answer within 24 hours.

Note that you will need a second email account that you can access so that the Hotmail support staff can send you your answer.

Automatically deletes files

I would say you have a virus or some other malicious software. Run virus softere to determine this or use the 'Housecall' on line virus checker (you can Google for it). Alternatively you might borrow or buy a clean hard disc or memory device and reload the OS afresh. If you transferred all your files when you reloaded Windows before you likely transferred the virus or bad software, I think it likely that only a clean start can rid you of the problem.

Can't seem to get my email account to work on windows mail .. Account: 'Usana', Server: 'mail.usana.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR login failed', Port: 110, S

A setting maybe corrupted or set wrong is the normal problem but also if you have mail set to download at boot up along with other software there is a bit of a clamour as to who gets to the internet first and I have found this can cause corruption as windows sorts out their requests. Like school when yours and their pals burst through the door I tend to do manual requests after the hubub has eased.

If you have a working system that is OK check out the settings under each tab that you find write it down to compare with a faulty system.

POP3 is an older email and dying out among many though I still use it one other area is the SSL setting or port number which can be changed but you would need to "ask the computer system" who you are trying to contact for the correct settings, most I have found in the help area for setting up emails they give out a page with methods for different email clients like many ISP's do.

I have found this on MS help file :-
For Windows 8:
1. Click the Windows button on your keyboard.
2. Type Control Panel and hit Enter.
3. Click Programs.
4. Click Programs and Features.
5. Search for Windows Essentials 2012 on the list and then select it.
6. Click Uninstall/Change.
7. Click Repair all Windows Essentials programs.

For Windows Vista/7:
1. Click the Start menu.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Programs.
4. Click Programs and Features.
5. Search for Windows Essentials 2012 on the list and then select it.
6. Click Uninstall/Change.
7. Click Repair all Windows Essentials programs.

For Windows XP:
1. Click the Start menu.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
4. Search for Windows Live Essentials on the list and then select it.
6. Click Change/Remove.
7. Click Repair, and then click Continue.

Also run antivirus scan and malware as a possible bit of software is trying to call home and being a problem, sometimes your protection software gets "blind" and ignores it for some reason, run say malwarebytes free which I find is good (you may have to disconnect from the internet and shut down your security software to let it scan as they may squabble) after it has completed you can either delete what it has found and it or make sure in its settings that it will only run in manual and not at boot up, just a tick box, do not forget to turn your security software back on before reconnecting to the internet.

Hope this helps.........

I am trying to fix my boss' Inspiron Mini 1012 - the Webcam is not opening. unable to find the driver. Where can i download the driver for his webcam?

@christinwayn

This computer uses the generic driver for Windows XP and Windows 7 and thus there's no need to install a driver. If you need to re-install the Webcam driver, try to do the following:

For Windows XP / 7
1. Press the Windows Key+R on the keyboard (the windows key looks like this ray_tosh_1.jpg ).
2. Type devmgmt.msc then press Enter.

ray_tosh_7.png

3. Expand Imaging Devices, right click on your camera and choose Update Driver Software

ray_tosh_12.jpg

4. Click Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software

If this doesn't work, I recommend doing a System Restore (if it was working a few days or weeks ago, step by step guide here) or a System Recovery (if you don't mind starting from scratch - you need to press F8 simultaneously during boot-up > choose Repair Your Computer and click on your account > Choose Dell Factory Image Restore).

Good luck

4. Type and confirm the new password, click 'OK'. (You can go to 'Local Users and Groups' screen by right-clicking 'Computer' to select 'Manage' on desktop.)

Step 3: Log on your password protected PC again with the new password since you have successfully performed Windows password reset for Windows 7.
