I don't use my dewalt table saw during the winter. It is kept in a dry place. The top still shows rust. What can I do to stop the rust?

The best thing I've found to seal saw table tops is a good car wax. It keeps the rust down and is great to keep your work sliding easily on the top and won't stain your wood like oil based coatings would.

SOURCE: Dewalt Table Saw

I don't know about Cleveland, but a while ago I replaced the bearing on my Sears Craftsman saw, and it wasn't a hard fix. I would expect any competent repair shop could do the repair easily. If you can get the arbor off and take it to the shop, that would be ideal. It only takes loosening a few bolts to get it off. I first removed the cast iron top from the sheet metal base so I could turn it over, but it can be done from the bottom, too. Just be prepared to eat some sawdust. The most specialized thing the shop would need is a bearing press to get the bearing in and out of its seat, and many shops would have these; they aren't very expensive. Maybe a good machine shop which does small jobs could do it for a small fee. A good place to find these is at your local auto parts store, such as NAPA or O'Riellys (here in MIssouri, anyway, but you get the idea). Your auto repair shop probably knows one or two they use for 'turning' brake drums, etc. BTY, I didn't have a bearing press and I did the job with carefully tapping the bearing back on with a sleeve made from a piece of scrap pipe. Tauton Press makes a great DVD on tuning up your saw after this fix, as you want to make sure
it is square with the table in two dimensions - parallel to the miter saw slots and perpendicular to the top. Good luck.

How did the blade get out of whack? Take the blade all the way up, put a straight edge against the blade, measure to the miter slot front and rear, if it is not the same, you will have to lightly loosen the carriage underneath and bump the thing over one way or the other with a lead hammer. Get it straight, then torque it back up. You should be all set. You can set your fence to the miter slots the same way. lock it down and check it, if it isn't right, adjust the fence, all fence adjust , from the cheapest to the best. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: can i buy a new motor for my dewalt table saw?

you need to check and see if it is the field or the armature that needs to be replaced. if you can use a volt ohm meter you can check these two items. you would use the ohm or continuity part of the meter. for the field, there is a wire coming fromthe elect source and the a spring around the brush holder. the are two of these field coils. if you take one leed to each end and the wire is ok the needle will move or you will see areading ont he digital readout. if you do not get a reading, there is a break in the wire and the field is bad. on the armature, using the same set up on the meter, hold one probe on the commutator. the commutator is at the end and is made up of copper rectangles. put one leed on one rectangle and then use the other leed to touch all the others one at a time. if you do not get a reading on one of the rectangles that means a wire is broke in the armature. if they both showgood, you have another problem. which would be your switch or cord.

Hi,
Before doing anything else I would clean the commutator ring...it is possible that it is so dirty, that even with the new brushes the current is still not being transferred properly...

Do a simple search fro "clean commutator ring" or "How to clean a commutator" and you will get many sites that give good information and many different ways to clean that up...I think that may be all that you need to do yet.

I broke off one of the tabs that hold the table saw throat insert in place. It's cast iron and I don't think it would weld. Tried glueing it and it came off again and now I've lost tab. Wi

You could make a tab to replace the original that you can hold in place with a countersunk screw through the top of the table. You are probably going to have to flip the saw over so that you can grind a flat spot where you can mount the new tab. You might even have to cut a gap in one of the cast webs. If you don't want to cut a web, your replacement tab is going to be a bit trickier to make.
Good luck! (I am trying to imagine how on earth the tab broke!) And by the way, it is possible to weld cast iron but I think it would be a mistake to try it because it would almost certainly warp your table.

Got a dewalt dw321k. Bought it new years ago. Cannot get a blade into it at all. Undone the top but still can't get blade in. Any ideas??????

These t-top blades are not obvious in how they fit, but fortunately they have been around long enough that there are lots of people that can help you. It may be humiliating, but just take the saw to any hardware or home-improvement store and ask somebody there to show you how it works---- or you could save face by leaving your saw at home and just asking for help with one on display! Just about any saw that uses this style of blade (which is most of them now) will work the same way, so you don't even have to find your exact same model. Good luck.

Rust is forming on my C table saw deck. Is it a defect? What to do.

Any saw with a cast iron top is prone to rusting. Basements usually have a higher humidity factor which makes the rust appear faster. Some people take a handfull of coarse sawdust with a little oil or WD-40 and rub the table top down to inhibit the rust. I don't like the thought of getting the oil on my wood so I use a good car wax (like most manuals will tell you to use) and seal the metal that way. Rub it in and buff it out well. Not only will it inhibit rusting but your wood will slide on the top extremely easily. Do it every couple months, depending on use, and your table won't rust anymore.

My Dewalt 788 Scroll Saw table has a problem: It's fine when level, but when inclining the table left, it contacts the blade. That's when I noticed there's vertical play in the table; the

First: if there is looseness in the table, it is dangerous. So I would check all the parts for wear. If, for instance, a knob worked loose, the bolt could have worn (via vibrating) the bracket, resulting in you being unable to tighten it correctly. Occasionally I take mine all apart and check it all over for just that reason. I also check all the knobs just before use to make sure they are all tight.
