SOURCE: Black Screen after 5 mins. of use
It sounds like the entire screen goes blank with your problem. My problem is the lower half of the screen goes blank. Do you think the SSB is also the problem? What are your thoughts about the "Video Board" or the X Board?
Do you know where to purchase parts?

You should have downloaded the eprom information onto a usb stick then transfered it back to the new board, or just removed the eprom off the old board onto the new. It is my recommendation to have an authorized service center come out and realign it within the factory service mode.

Hi, Usually any "Pops" are an Electrolytic Capacitor "blowing up" quite literally, or "Gassing" as it is called. This happens due to some sort of power problem. Capacitors hate AC Voltage and Current, and Heat and Over Voltage. All of which, I have no doubt it was exposed to before it went "Pop" This is only a symptom of a far greater problem, to come, no doubt, soon, the rest of the set will fail too. Please DO NOT USE. this set any more, you risk fire or explosion or both. If you MUST use it at least unplug at bed time. Theses days home repair except for the most rudimentary problem is not feasible, setting aside the safety aspect. In my professional opinion, I would recommend, that you get a "Quote" for repair from a Philips Authorised Service Agent This is very important, that you contact a Philips head office and ask for a referral. This way at least you can make a decision to repair or replace.
