SOURCE: Dell Poweredge 1800 server

Hi the Power Supply also needs to be upgraded for the additional RAM and new CPU . Please look into this aspect. My opinion a slightly Overrated PS would be better .

SOURCE: Adding DVD to Poweredge 2600

PE2600 has lots of spare power (unless you are already using all 6 SCSI drive bays) ..

You can fit 3 x SATA drives in the space where the (useless) tape backup unit is sitting [you can even buy a 'proper' enclosure = Icy Dock MB453SPF or I think the SNT-2131 will fit ] .. and you can split the power off the Tape drive (4pin) power socket ..

I've not found a DVD burner (only a combined DVD reader / CD burner = TS-L462C) .. however if you have a spare IDE port you should be able to use an external unit [you will need an e-ide cable & enclosure for the drive]

SOURCE: Poweredge 1800 server

Hey,

I looked over the spesifications for the poweredge 1800 servers, go ahead, it will work perfectly but there is one problem in the windows XP setup, you will need to insert / load SCSI or SATA drivers for the hard drive With a floppy disk, or if you don't have a floppy drive your going to need to create a custom windows xp setup cd and add the drivers into it so it can start the SCSI or SATA hard drive and finish the install. without the drivers it might not find the hard drive.

Aside from that I don't see any other problems. You should be able to get the drivers, and everything ese from dell site
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/

Actually I looked over the dell downloads, I see only windows 2000 on the list with windows server 2003, and 2008 and linux distributions.

This could be a 2nd problem, drivers might not be avaialble, or work with xp, but we might be able to get it to work.

So two problems, SCSI or SATA drivers in windows xp / windows 2000 setup

2nd problem is in windows xp drivers, you could try windows 2003's drivers and 2000's and see if they work, if not, then we would have to look for drivers ourselfs from the internet.

So xp might cause headache but we might get it working, windows 2000 seems to be supported perfectly.

Let me know how the project goes
Thanks,
Ekse

SOURCE: When powering up a Poweredge 1600sc i get 6 error

Hi,
It states 1-3-2 = No memory installed
Remove and reset the memory modules (see "Memory Modules"). If the problem persists, replace the system board (see "System Board"). Good Luck

SOURCE: nic teaming on poweredge t300

NIC teaming is useless unless you have a switch that support teaming.
However, Dell servers have free lifetime phone support ((800) 945-3355).
They should be able to help.

Error E1000 failsafe call support e1216 3.3v powergd

Hello.
The error indicates a fault with either motherboard, riser or PCIe cards on the riser. Clear the system event log or hardware logs, shutdown the server and re-seat the risers with associated PCIe cards. Reboot and monitor the same error.

riser card could have a blown capacitor.

How can i istall windows server 2000 on Dell Poweredge T300

Windows 2000 is not supported on this machine. The closest you could get is using a hypervisor XenServer or VMWare ESXi and then installing Windows 2000 on a virtual machine.

Dell poweredge t300 server e1410 cpu 1 error

The e1410 is an error that is reporting an interruption to the CPU processes. It isn't identifying an issue with the processor specifically, it is just saying its processes were interrupted. Normally when you see the E1410 you will see another error listed with it in the hardware log. Do you see any other errors in the log? Also, what is the BIOS and Drac versions at currently? I ask because the server being very out of date can cause issues like this as well.
Let me know what you see.

I have a poweredge t300 server and am having an issues connecting to certain website which I can log on to using a different computer not connected to the server which leads me to believe it has to do

Your corporate Firewall is denying access. I don't know what this site is or does, but you can put in a request to allow access with your IT guy or use it at home.

Verify size and type off memory. Also the slots used are a variable. There should be DIMM configuration table on the removable panel or better yet look for the manual.
