I am one of the lead technicians at VideoOneRepair.com toll free 888 283 2228. We are a repair shop that specializes in only Sony and Canon Prosumer camcorders. The problem that you are experiencing with your Sony HVR-A1U camcorder is a common problem with this model camcorder. The ribbon cable that connects the LCD screen to the main part of the camcorder goes faulty and needs to be replaced. Sony also recommends that when this cable is replaced you must also replace a modified part to prevent this from happening again. The estimate to replace both of these parts is $360.19 parts and labor. This also includes cleaning and servicing. We also offer a 6 month guarantee on the entire camcorder, not just what it was sent in for. The estimate and the return shipping are free even if you do not have the camcorder repaired. Please feel free to call, email or post any questions you have and I would be happy to respond.
No,sorry.U can't not fixed this problems beside changing the whole tv LCD sceen panel it is not econmicial to change the tv LCD screen panel, because the LCD screen panel cost almost the as a new tv itself .This it is call "screen burn in" the image it there for good sorry.
When that happens it definetly means you will have to take a trip to the deolorship. If you take it local shops then most likely will not want to mess with it for the reason that they will have no indication of how much fluid goes inside the transmission. That right there is the biggest problem, it definetly is a hassel and seems like a trap that dealorships do to force customers to get there vehicles serviced with them.
If you are trying to capture from a digital camcorder (tape), you have to use a firewire connection, USB does not work as stated in requirements.
Adding to what Walt said, firewire cables don't connect to a USB port. If you don't have a firewire cable, you need to purchase one. And if you do, don't buy a cheap one. Buy cheap, buy twice.
I bought mine from Amazon.com on 111/15/2011. 1 of Panasonic VW-VBG130 VW-VBG260 Battery Charger for Home & Car by Pexell. The cost was: Item Subtotal: $3.64 ,Shipping & Handling: $4.95, Total: $8.59 It hasn't arrived yet,so I don't know how well it will work. When I get it I'll update you.
Not spinning disc
If it spins with a little help from yourself replace the spindle motor with improved motor, part number: RXQ0749A
Unable to detect discs
The laser head was the culprit. Replacing it fixed the problem. (Laser head code GRP6278A)
Dew indicator is on permanently. Cannot play or record tapes. No dew present - caused by internal fault
This Camcorder uses very fragile flexible circuits to interconnect the
PCB's. They plug in to edge connectors. It seems that when they made
these camcorders at the factory, they had as many problems getting
these film flexy circuits back into the connectors as us service
engineers have. I saw one unit that had a crease in the flexy circuit
which had caused a hair-line fracture. Solution, trace the wiring and
solder a sub-miniature wire across the broken track. Don't disturb any
flexy connectors that you don't need to. This camcorder is a **** to
work on
Not loading properly
Usually due to incorrect head alignment or dirty head, or failure of LM324 op-amp
Doesn't record properly, ie: looks like one channel is down when recorded, pre-recorded tapes are ok
Check Q008 for dry joints
