Blue haze around image, yellow streak

I have a HC-P4241W I purchased 2 1\2 years ago. 6 months ago, I could no longer adjust the green vertical line in the convergence mode. As a result my screen is bowed from top to bottom like ) ( this. I figure its the IC's STK394- 250. Thats not the main problem. Lately I noticed that I am getting yellow streaks starting at the bottom and going up about 6 inches , going across the screen. Not solid all across, just a few streaks. Someone told me to check the collant, the blue is a pale brown color. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

It is a problem with crud built up in my blue lense. I removed the back covered the blue lense, turned on the tv and the haze and streak was gone. I am gonna have to remove the blue crt and take it apart to replace the coolant. I would love to have a manual but I can't find on online. It is a Canadian model I guess, can anyone help me with the removable instrucions? I am an electronics tech but have never touched tvs before. This are my lenses...notice the blue.

Canon projector shows blue (sometimes yellow) vertical lines on start up, after 10 minutes or so they go away. But lately are staying longer, or appearing randomly. Why, what's the fix ?

Could just be that the thing's getting old and wearing out, I'm afraid. How many hours have you logged on it, and what's its ventilation situation like?

Seems it might be something to do with, if not actual "burn-in", creeping physical misalignment of the internal components (e.g. the R/G/B LCDs no longer entirely line up, so maybe you have the blue one beaming light into the gaps left by red and green - ie yellow), particularly due to heat soaking ... Some types are more susceptible than others... I've a 6 y/o Panasonic that is now relegated to the emergency spares bucket after developing this and other problems, which I did initially managed to fix by popping the lid and doing some deep and experimental imager surgery (basically finding that the adhesive holding one of the LCDs in place was starting to break down and the panel had slid a minute amount off its mountings ... dab of superglue and a lot of trial and error fussing to massage the fine alignment to the right position, and it was somewhat improved, until general bleaching and fade-out did for it a few months later) ... on the other hand there's some 9-ish year old NECs knocking around here that are more or less fresh as daisies. Go figure.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms
  • Screen Looks 3-D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped
  • No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2

Another common problem is dull or washed out video.
Your TV2_bing.gif may have one or more of the following symptoms....
  • Dull looking picture
  • White looking picture
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking picture

Mustek Scan Express A3 USB Scanner

I've had a similar problem with the streaks, lines and color bleeds appearing in the scan. Try uninstalling the all software and drivers for the scanner and reinstall. Worked for me. Have had to do this a couple of times since I've owned the scanner... about three to four years now.

Blue wide streaks in my 42" Sony TV model KDFE42A10.

I have the same TV and the same problem and it's also just over 2 years old (bought it June 2006) when the problem started. Every day, I saw the blue streak cover more of the tv, now 6 months later, it has all turned to green and the entire tv has a green tint. It looks like I am watching tv in murky green water.
I am lucky that I purchased the additional warranty on the tv and finally got around to calling them. I hate to tell you this, but they told me that the optical light has gone up and they are replacing the tv.

Blue screen

I would suggest getting another optical block from the repair man. Apparently even some replacement blocks have had issues...

Severe covergence distortion

for this kind of problem, we consider the lifespan of the RGB GUN lifespan, if the triple image occur on the screen, adjustment should be made and secondly try to measure the 2nd anode by using the high voltage probe

HX-P4241W appears yellow. Left and Right of screen are yellow

Yellow is the lack of blue. It can happen when you are running your contrast - which is your overall light level - too high.

Try turning down your contrast. On CRT tech, contrast should always be run at half what the factory allows as full, on the user controls. Full up is what calibrators call Torch Mode, and is NOT the way to get performance to be in the linear operating range of CRT tech.

If your sides are more yellow than your middle, your set may need lenstriping. Mild yellow on the sides is not uncommon, and usually not noticed. But heavy yellow on the sides would indicate that the blue image needs work on white field uniformity.

Yellow is the lack of blue, in CRT tech.

Samsung HC-P4241W 42 in. Rear Projection CRT aging

First off, do you not know Internet etiquette? Caps are considered yelling or shouting! So please! head You have the typical convergence failure of the convergence correction IC's. They BOTH need to be replaced. If you have no solid state printed circuit board experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
