My 7801 doesnt turn on

Ok i had a mtx 7801 running two mtx t8512-04 subs. about two weeks ago i fried the subs. got new ones through mtx warranty. plugged everything back in.( i used to install professionally so dont tell me to check my remote wire...) turned the car on and the amp didnt kick on not even the prizm efx. neither the short or the thermal leds came on on the out side of the amp. so i took the top outer casing off of the amp and re applied power. mtx set these amps up to tell you whats wrong because there are smaller leds on the actual board in main places (i.e. line in, power transformer, output side) and the led on the board nearest the line in ( rca in ) is lit. is this like a circuit that got tripped when the subs blew or what should i test for on the board itself? any help is much appriciated.

Can you bridge 2 4 ohm kicker speakers to a mtx thunder 7801 amp?

Ya. Just hook one sub to your amp (bridged) and hook the other sub (positive and negative) to the first subs positive and negative

How can i bridge a mtx 9500 using a mono amp?

You cant bridge it to the MONO AMP . You can only bridge subs & speakers to 2 CH & 4 CH AMPS that are bridgeable. Because if it appears that there is 2 channels on a Mono amp its so its convenient for you to hook up 2 4ohm subs to it easily But both channels are actually connect internally together in parallel inside the amp unlike a 2 channel they are separate.

So just connect your mtx 9500 to a plus and a minus and doesnt matter which since all the + terminals of are connected together and - are connected together already.

Whats important is on the side of the sub/box it reads 2 ohms. The lower the ohms the more power the Mono amp will put out. Mono amps are designed to handle 2ohm loads.

If it reads 4ohms The MONO amp is the wrong amp to use cause the power will be weaker. So if you have a 1000 Watt Mono amp at 4ohms the sub will only get 500 WATTS Max while a 2 ohm will get the full 1000 Watts.

If it reads 4 ohms connect it to a 2CHANNEL AMP and BRIDGE IT (connect + of the sub to 1st channels positive of the amp then connect - of the sub to 2nd channels negative of the amp) . The power will be doubled when you bridge it on a 2 channel amp. NOW if it was a 2 ohm sub and you bridged it to the 2 channel amp it will fry the subs and ruin the amp. 2 CHANNELS CANT TAKE A 2OHM LOAD BRIDGED OK.

I have a mtx thunder 7801 and a sledge hammer box

Sounds like the subs are blown with the voicecoils fused together which means the amp is/was seeing a dead short ( zero Ohms reisitence) not good for any amp. Disconnect the speaker terminals from the amp and see if it turns on. The funny smell might have been the subs blowing up, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I have a mtx thunder 421d. I've had it about 5 years, about a week ago it started going out from time to time. I checked my hot wire and fuses, they are ok.Now the amp stop working, and dont light up. Will...

If you have proof of purchase(invoice or receipt) showing the purchase date and you are still within the warranty period then yes it would be repaired by MTX under the warranty guidlines, and by the way MTX is great at customer service and they are great to work with(very fair)!!!!
Keep in mind that the seal on the bottom of the amp cannot be broken or that will void warranty coverage.
Give them a call, you will be glad you did!

How do i wire two kicker l7 dual 2 ohm subs to play on a mtx 7801 class d amplifier

Hello moore_broder,

Your MTX 7801 is stable at 1 ohm, but you cannot wire a pair of DVC 2 ohm subs to that impedance. They can only be wired to 1/2 ohm which is too low or to 2 ohms.

Series the voice coils and parallel the subs. On each sub, jumper Black to Red/White Dot, then run both red's (positive) and both black/white dot's (negative) to your amp terminals.

The diagram is here.

Hope this helps.

Not working

disconnect the subs from the amp and check to see if the amp will turn on and stay on-check the subs to see if they are blown with a different source try a pair or a single sub that you know works fine on the amp and see if it plays-this should tell you whether your amp is fried or your subs are roasted

Amp works fine i think??? but Prsim efx not working at all

You need to contact MTX tech support before the warranty runs out. You'll probably have to get an RA number to send it back.

My amp doesn't turn on...

If there is a zero ohm connection across the B+ and ground terminals, it should blow the fuse as soon as you apply power.
