DO THE DOME AND UNDER DASH LIGHTS COME ON? IF THEY DO CHECK THE SOCKETS AND THE BULBS, THE DOOR BEING CLOSED OVER THE YEARS TAKES ITS TOLL.

To the right (UK)/left(US) and on the dash below the sterring wheel level (near Fog light switch) you will see three buttons A B and Reset. With dash display showing trip millage of the one you wish to reset (A or B) press and hold the reset button for 5 secs.

under the passenger side dash ,have done one not long ago but i wouldnt remember ,like a machine i just do it hard to describe i just look and do it ,

i dought the connector is the problem. check cd player same way as you did radio.pull that fuse and check every funcion you can in the car to see if some unlisted on fuse box item is on that circuit. its possible the cig lighter or power outlets are routed through that fuse or aftermarket equipment is improperly installed on that circuitm lighter/power sockets are always going bad and cheap cell phone etc socket adapters are always shorting out and popping fuses.
if you cannot find a bad coponent then look at wireing for insulation rub throughs to the body. look anywere a wire/harness is near an edge that can cause a rub through. bolt/screw heads/seat tracs/any moving exsposed metal object near wires are suspect to.

in the mass fuse box, under the dash, unless you have the manual you will not beable to tell wich one it is.. get a chiltons repair manual or a haynes...
