Panasonic TH-50PZ80U TV is 2 months old and picture output is through an HDMI cable from a satellite cable box. Everything was fine then all of a sudden the TV displays a "SHUTDOWN IN 3 MINUTES" message. Since then I can't get a picture through the HDMI cable but I can through component cables. I have 2 HD satellite cable boxes and neither will ouput a picture via HDMI to this TV. I've swapped HDMI cables to ensure the HDMI cable wasn't bad and still no picture.

Problem is with your ISP/Cable Company accepting the installation as one with HD clients, which while
not necessarily costing you more, must be specified to the cable box by your installer.
Make the call.

I think you would be better having the set to repair shop. It might be not just those ports that has been affected. Modern devices are full of static sensitive parts and lighting is a bit more powerfull than mere static. It could also have comprimised safety features, to prevent fire; for instance. I would take it to a Pansonic service center to be fixed to be on the safe side.

I have the same problem. I just took my tv off the wall to hook up a Wii & when I reconnected the HDMI inputs don't provide a picture, but all the component video work fine.
Does anyone have a clue?
Same issue for me with a TH-50PV80H. The problem started when I connected a PC via a HDMI cable to the TV. Now I just get a black screen - no picture or sound.
Occassionally, the PlayStation - connected via a HDMI cable will work - but only for a hour or so and then I'm back to a black screen for all the components.
Connecting the PC via the the VGA cable works (but the picture is not as good), same as the RCA jacks ... but then what's the point in having a HDTV.
I received a post last night indicating that it was likely a faulty signal card.
Good luck - I'm going to take mine in for service (and live without a TV for the next 3 weeks).
