There are hundreds of varieties of dog toys available for
purchase and although many of them look cute and fun, they may not be safe for
your dog. I am going to give you a few
tips that will help ensure your dogs safety in regards to the types of toys you
buy for him/her.
First and foremost, choose toys made for dogs. Sometimes people are drawn to toys sold for
cats, hamsters or even children. These
may be harmful to your dog. Make sure to
buy pet specific toys from a well-known manufacturer of dog toys.
Look for toys made from either hard rubber or nylon. These materials are very safe for your dog
and double as great teething tools. Here
are a few examples of well manufactured dog toys -

Consider the size of your dog in regards to the size of the
toy. Large dogs should not be given
small toys. Your dog could accidentally
swallow it and choke.
Some of the things to avoid when selecting a dog toy are: ribbons, bells or pieces of plastic. These small embellishments are often the first thing your dog will try to remove and will most likely ingest.
Dogs that have toys to play with are less bored. Toys can direct dogs to healthy behaviors, use up excess energy, and be a way for the two of you to play together.
The Small Babble Ball is intended for the tiny breeds up to 10 pounds. The Medium Babble Ball is for dogs 12 to 25 pounds and the Large Babble Ball is for the large breeds above 25 pounds.
When buying bones for your dogs, you should select large sterile bones
from either the pet store or grocery store. Small bones and cow hooves should
not be given to your dog because they are dangerous.
When dogs have toys to play with, they are less bored and can take out
excess energy on playing with their toys, instead of doing negative things like
ripping off the sofa (which will cost you a lot of money to replace!). Also,
toys can bring the dog and its owner to play together and share quality time
together.
