Dogs that don't play with toys for a long time and get tired/bored easily should be given squeaky toys or stuffed toys. Good thing about stuffed toys is that even when your dog doesn't play with them, they can still be around it and offer him companionship.

How to Stop puppy from biting and digging?

Offer your dog a chewable treat to divert his attention from randomly digging holes. If your dog enjoys playing with other dogs, invite neighborhood dogs over for a playdate. Create a digging pit for your dog in a designated area filled with his favorite toys and chews. Praise him for using it and not the plant-beds.

TIPS ON BUYING DURABLE AND SAFE TOYS FOR YOUR DOG

There are hundreds of varieties of dog toys available for purchase and although many of them look cute and fun, they may not be safe for your dog. I am going to give you a few tips that will help ensure your dogs safety in regards to the types of toys you buy for him/her.

First and foremost, choose toys made for dogs. Sometimes people are drawn to toys sold for cats, hamsters or even children. These may be harmful to your dog. Make sure to buy pet specific toys from a well-known manufacturer of dog toys.

Look for toys made from either hard rubber or nylon. These materials are very safe for your dog and double as great teething tools. Here are a few examples of well manufactured dog toys -

Consider the size of your dog in regards to the size of the toy. Large dogs should not be given small toys. Your dog could accidentally swallow it and choke.

Some of the things to avoid when selecting a dog toy are: ribbons, bells or pieces of plastic. These small embellishments are often the first thing your dog will try to remove and will most likely ingest.

How many toys should dogs have?

The amount of toys your dog has is a personal decision. The important thing is that your dog likes the toys and is excited to play with them. Once the toy is torn or the dog doesn't find it entertaining anymore, you can replace it with something new.

What are the benefits of dog toys?

When dogs have toys to play with, they are less bored and can take out excess energy on playing with their toys, instead of doing negative things like ripping off the sofa (which will cost you a lot of money to replace!). Also, toys can bring the dog and its owner to play together and share quality time together.

My dog destroys every toy I give him within minutes,

I found that my dog would devour any toy that was plastic and leave me the mess to clear up. I moved to rubber toys and after some cohesion she would begin to play with them. She didn't like the rubber toys in the beginning and I suspect that it had something to do with the smell and taste of them.
