Dogs that don't play with toys for a long time and get tired/bored easily should be given squeaky toys or stuffed toys. Good thing about stuffed toys is that even when your dog doesn't play with them, they can still be around it and offer him companionship.

Consider the size of your dog in regards to the size of the
toy. Large dogs should not be given
small toys. Your dog could accidentally
swallow it and choke.
Some of the things to avoid when selecting a dog toy are: ribbons, bells or pieces of plastic. These small embellishments are often the first thing your dog will try to remove and will most likely ingest.
Dogs that have toys to play with are less bored. Toys can direct dogs to healthy behaviors, use up excess energy, and be a way for the two of you to play together.
