Yes, they can. The problem with pig ears is that once the dog chews on them, they can break into small pieces, which then can be dangerous for the dog if it eats them.

If I don't heat or cool down my dog house with an air conditioning unit, is it dangerous for my dog?

Obviously it depends how extreme the temperatures are where you live, but in general when dogs seriously overheat, they are at risk of a stroke and when they get dangerously cold, they are at risk of hypothermia and frostbite.

What can I do to help prevent my dog from getting an ear infection? I clean his ears regularly; however he still seems to be getting infections.

I found a great natural remedy that works in preventing ear infections in dogs. I use it for my dogs and they have been ok for almost a year now.

THE FOLLOWING ALL NATURAL REMEDY
PREVENTS EAR INFECTIONS! This recipe is not meant to be used with Zymox. This should only be used once the ears are completely healed.

Keep in mind that it "will not" cure an existing ear infection.

Once you get your dog's ears to a healthy state either by using Zymox like we recommended or with the help of an antibiotic from your veterinarian, start using the following remedy weekly to prevent future infections. This works by raising the Ph level in the dogs ears.

Purchase an eye dropper bottle and the following ingredients
from your local pharmacy.

2 Tablespoons of Boric Acid
4 ounces of Rubbing Alcohol
1 Tablespoon of Glycerine

Shake the bottle before each use to thoroughly mix. Place a small eyedropper full into each ear. Cup the dog's ear and massage gently. Allow the dog to shake his head and gently blot dry any excess on the outside of the ear.
Do this weekly.

If ANY IRRITATION occurs - STOP using the recipe immediately!

Are pig ears a healthy treat?

Although they are quite delicious for dogs, pig ears contain a lot of fat. So if your dog suffers from obesity, do not give it pig ears.

Is there a benefit to giving my dog rawhide treats?

Don't feed your dog raw hide bones. Horns/antlers are a better choice

Should I give my dog pigs ears?

I have read a lot of forums about this and it seems as though they are not that popular among dog owners. A lot of them say that the pigs' ears make their dogs sick with loose stools and others say that their vets have told them that pigs' ears are crawling with bacteria. So I wouldn't advise you to give them. Check out this forum: http://www.dogforums.com/dog-food-forum/951-pigs-ears-bad.html

Need to get the agitator off

that's funny [feed dogs]they are called, dog ears but you do now have to feed the dogs because their not working.lol.hey you will have to get those parts on-line or at an appliance store.lowes wont carry those that i know.anyway if you pop the cap of the agitator you will see a piece that has a small handle.pull up and remove that piece.then you will see the bolt to remove to pull the agaitator[its a 7/16]take a good look at how its together before you take apart.......ok now that the agitator is out place on floor, put feet on the bottom piece and pull up on the top piece til comes off.then dump out the piece in the top w/dog ears in it........install new ears in that piece and reinstall upside down, inthe top piece of the agitator.then apply pressure on the dog ear retainer and place over the bottom piece of the agitate aligning the two little tabs sticking up on the bottom piece of the agitator with the little cut outs in the dog ear retainer....now take your socket to place bolt back on,put some plastic wrapper or package from dogs in the socket and push the bolt into it.then place the bolt in the hole of the dog ear retainer .now lift agitator up and place onto transmission shaft and tighten bolt and place cover back on................boy that was a lot of words.that should do it for you God bless you Tiffany ,from tom
