Hd52w59 I thought I e-mailed you last Sunday but I don't find anything. Okay, here is the deal my husband replaced the fuse for the 5th time and this time he soldered the flyback, last Friday. Worked all weekend went to put the cover back on Sunday afternoon. And it started doing it thing of kicking off and on with no picture. We tried resoldering the flyback again and we still can't get any power. Please help I just hate to ditch this TV. It has to be fixable. I'm not willing to give up.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

sorry havent got back got some personal issue going on. So its cycling off. my fist instinct is to check the ribbion cables that go between boards. and most connectors. theres a cable that runs from the back green booard to the front center crt board in the front. this could be a problem. does the set make any noises?

Flyback

You can substitute a 1 amp PICO (pronounced peeko) fuse and it will work just fine. You should be able to order them anywhere. Let me know if I can be of further assistance

Okay let me know what you think

the flyback transformer is the large black component simalar looking to a disrtibitor of a car it has a large red wire coming out of top and a black wire. On the bottom of the board it has about 10 pins arranged in a circle. this is flyback is located adjacent to the fuse.

Convergence

you need to have the conversion chips replaced , this is a pretty common repair and i would say it is definately worth the fix, some repair shops will come and fix it within a half hour to an hour depending on the difficulty in taking out the old part and or putting in the new

Star Mail

Do you have access to the programming of the voicemail ? If you do then you need to change the date and time on the voicemail system. The newer systems actually get the time and date from the phone system but the older ones did not. Let me know and I will try to find a manual for the Star Mail and walk you through the change. Power hits do strange things to phone systems, you never know what will be popping up after the hit. Good Luck. ..Mike
