IF YOU DID NOT PRESS THE RESET BUTTON NEX TO THE USB PLUG, DO IT. IT WILL REINITIATE THE DEVICE TO THE FACTORY; YOU WILL HAVE TO ADJUST THE CLOCK.
I DID BECAUSE IT WAS WORKING AT FIRST.( PAGE 3 OF THE MANUAL)

I have a kenwood KDC-MP438U stereo. Ipod error.

Hi If anything the stereo was probably designed and tested using a certain version of the Iphones software, now that version 4 has been released the way the IPhone communicates may have changed.

As a result the stereo is no longer able to talk to the phone and vice versa. your probably best off contacting Kenwood direct to see if they are aware of this problem and if there is anything that can be done about it.

" USB ERROR "

Hello kenwood12312,

With the receiver OFF, remove the USB device then turn the power ON. If the same display is repeated, use another USB device. Remove the USB device without entering the remove mode. If this does not work, try resetting the receiver. Press the "reset" button just above the AUX INPUT. This will return the unit to factory default settings. If these steps fail and you still get the USB error, the receiver is faulty and needs service.

Hope this helps.

I have installed the receiver and it played the music from my USB flash drive very well, but few days ago it stopped playing (displaying NA files)...then it's not recognizing that the flash drive is...

JUST PRESS THE RESET BUTTON, SITUATED NEXT TO THE USB PLUG.
IF ALL THE CONNECTIONS WERE OK, IT SHOUD REINITIATE THE KDC-MP438U AS PAGE 3
OF THE MANUAL. YOU WILL HAVE TO READJUST THE CLOCK.

"PROTECT" is constantly displayed on the screen of my kdc-mp438u

You need to unplug the unit from the back and find the problem. Usually, it is almost always your speaker connections. Once you find the problem within the speakers, plug it back in and it resets it.
