Speaker set up problem

Hello!

Just bought an sr506 yesterday, am having probs hooking my speakers up to it. i have a 5.1 speaker package and am not sure which ports on the back of my amp i connect my surround speakers to; the surround back left and right port or the surround left and right? i've hooked my center speaker to center port on amp, front left and rigth speakers to front left and right port on back of amp but dont know where i hook my surround speakers. As i said before it's only a 5.1 set not 6/7.1. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your post mate, thing is there are two different ports for surround sound on the back of the amp, one says Surround BACK left and surround BACK right and the other just says surround left and surround right so for 5.1 would i connect the rear speakers to surround BACK left and surround BACK right and NOT surround left and surround right? sorry if this all sounds confusing!!

I have a set of 5 mirage nanosat speakers. Two of them have no sound. The other 3 are fine. Moved from Condo to home. As far as I know they were working in the condo. Any Ideas?

First thing to do is diagnose where problem lies - speakers or receiver or maybe wires. Take a working speaker and hook it up to the same wire that a non-working speaker is currently connected to. If the speaker now works, the problem is in the speaker, if it doesn;t work the problem is either the wire itself or the receiver. If possibly the receiver, check speaker set up menu in the receiver to see that all the channels are turned on. Have you talked to the dealer you bought it from for help? I'd start there after diagnosing problem as described above.

How do I connect my Acoustimass® 5 Series III Stereo Speaker System to my Onkyo SR506 av receiver?

Well, first of all this speaker system is designed to give you a subwoofer where you do not have a sub-woofer output on your receiver/amp. However, that is not the case with the Onkyo. The way I would set it up (only because of the speakers you have) according to the Acoustimass Manual. You take the left and Right "Speaker" outputs to the Left and Right input on the Acoustimass and the speakers crossover does the rest. The Onkyo is designed to have a powered subwoofer so in this format you would just tell the receiver to turn off the sub channel which would tell the Onkyo to send the low end to LR. That should do it.

I have a 1990 oldsmobile 98 and i put an aftermarket cd playerin it I bought the wire harness and dash kit and i hooked it up and everything is powered up ok the problem im having is im not getting sound...

did you have sound with old radio before ? did you use a wiring harnest ? check speaker wires or if you have the factory bose or concert sound system the factory amp probably went bad therefor you would have to run speaker wire from each speaker to correct the problem .

I have 2 crossfire S6.o speakers and 2 5" cf-25 speakers, they were part of a comp. set i belive, do i need a crossfire cross over to hook this up?

no problem. I was in a rush to leave - however wanted to give you the information you wanted.

All the pre-packaged crossover is - is mass produced, neatly packaged (and may have a built in protection circuit (fuse or lightbulb) to protect the tweeter.

You can make your own OR run full range OR use the one on your amplifier (if equipped).

If you have a rockford set, or massive audio etc. - really doesnt matter.

If you want further info let me know.

Sound on DVDs

It sounds like she has the player set to output 5.1 surround sound, but only has left and right channel speakers hooked up. Either change the dvd player to only send two channels or hook up a center channel speaker.

Blow right speaker channel - ONKYO TX-SR506

There is some way to change a protection (fuse?). No. The fuse usually was not broken. How long did your amp turn on?
3 seconds (DC protect) OR immediately shut down (Over Current protect)? How to confirm?
1.Unplug the amp.
2.Remove the metal cover.
3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
6.Plug the amp and switch it on.
7.If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
8.If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.
Try the above- mentioned steps. I will tell you what to do next. Just search you tube for SR600 cap replacement. I have written an email here. Write an email to me if you want to fix this amp.

TX-SR506 Bi-Amping

If you select bi-amping the device will use a second amp for your rear speakers, this indicates that in your setup menu you probably have deleted the rears (set to None). Try to find the settings for your rear speaker in your setupmenu and see if they are selected in normal operation.
If all fails, see if you can reset teh device back to factory settings, sometimes software can get confused after using for a while. Resetting should than fix most problems.

You can also check and see if there is maybe a software update available for your device, loading and installing is explained in either the file or on manufacturers site.
