Dell Inspiron e1505 running XP professional SP3 freezes after login.

Your profile might be corrupted. You can try boot into safemode and see if you can log in from there. In order to boot into safemode, you have to press F8 button during startup. Then select boot with safemode, wait for a little splash screen of text to go away. you should be able to login from there.

If you can't login as yourself, try login as administrator account. Then create a new account.

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 laptop that just won't come on.

hi, your laptop led`s are also there for diagnostic purposes, if the caps lock and scroll lock (the one on right of caps) are flashing before going off, it means your system is not detecting the RAM so either your ram has failed or the motherboard is faulty

Inspiron e1505

Hi,
You should be able to restore the system from the recovery partition on that model laptop.
Shut down the system. Then start it up. Right after pushing the power button to start it, hold down the CTRL and keep tapping the F11 key(for XP). If you have Vista just tap on F8(no need to hold down CTRL). A symantec recovery application (PC Restore) window will start up. just follow the instructions on the window.

Regards.

Blank screen when powered on.

Do you have any CD’s that came with your laptop? If so, look for one that has “Diagnostics and utilities” listed under the “Contents”. To boot from that CD disk, power on your laptop and tap the <F12> key to bring you to the “One time boot menu”. Insert the CD and then select CD/DVD drive and hit <Enter> key. You can also boot from the Windows reinstallation disk. If the computer boots from either CD, then your Operating System is corrupted and needs to be reloaded.

Dell inspiron e1505 wont boot

Sounds like you are having issues with the motherboard since we are talking about a laptop here. However, there is a way on how we can isolate that the motherboard is the main problem. Remove the memory by clicking this ---> http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/om/parts.htm#wp1103163
If in case the system would still act the same, call up Dell with the service tag or express service code to have the motherboard replaced.
