Will not turn on

Was watching TV when all of a sudden the screen went black and turned off. Now I have a red blinking light under the Timer-Stand By. I try to turn it on (I hear the click) but I also hear another click (turning-off) a second after. Will not turn on. Sony's operating manual says "Your projection TV may need service" ?

My TV is actually a KP53HS30 and I found a service mnaual for it on line so I would understand what these 6 blinking lights were. From what I got it is related to LOW B OCP/OVP (Overcurrent/over voltage)...+5V Line Overloaded or shorted on the A or B board...Result no picture. Took the back panel off my TV Set looked at the boards and decided a need for a tech. My cost estimate $300-400. Thanks alot for responding to my initial question. I will provide more feedback after it has been fixed

My wouldn't turn on. After press the power button, can hear click sound then followed by "click" turn off sound. This happened after a powerful storm past our area. Any suggestion?

I have the same problem. The red light blinks slowly for several minutes. I had a Best Buy tech look at the set and he claimed it needed a picture tube at the cost of $1,000. I don't believe his tech was being honest and I think Best Buy is just trying to sell me a new tv.

How many times does the light blink? There is a diagnostic set-up built into these Sony TV sets.

When you turn the tv on the red light on the front(stand by/timer)flashes and the tv starts to come on and then it turns off.

Do you mean the screen turns on briefly or the stand by light just keeps blinking. If the tv turns off after switching on then it probably means a protection circuit fault. Also please provide me the number of times it blinks before it pauses. Awaiting your resposnse.

Regards,
Sai.

TV went OFF

The standby light should be blinking in a repeated pattern. Count the blinks and report that number here. This will indicate the circuit that is defective and will allow us to provide a repair suggestion.

Tv wont come on and a red light is blinking. I have a Sony Wide screen projection TV model kp-46wt520

Can you unplug the TV for about 15 seconds, and then plug back in and watch the stand-by light. Tell me how many time the stand-by light blinks in regular intervals. If it doesn't blink at all, you need to change a fuse on the g-board. Once this is done run back through the stand-by blink light process, and more troubleshooting can be done if problem isn't already solved. If the stand-by light just keeps blinking with a count over ten just tell me, and I'll look for other possibilities.

TV screen turned on for only 10-15 secs then self turn off, followed soon after by the tv power another 10-15 seconds later. if i try this a few times screen wont light up at all.Is it the TV Lamp?

1) Can be dust do a good clean
2)Check for the fuse and change it if needed.
3) Capacitor needs to be changed, you'll have to findout which one.

Hope it helps, good luck

Blinking timer red light on jvc tv, no other functions

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
