All HD, Power inidicators normal; moving screen sometimes it goes black but returns to white again
Regarding ; White screen , I flipped my notebook over and removed the power source(s) , power cord and battery. I then removed the three screws in the battery cavity and the two outside corner screws to gain access to the connection for the LCD and found a loose connection. It seems that the wire that connects to the screen was being moved every time I opened and closed my computer. So very glad to find that bulb and inverter board was not bad. Prior to this , I did try external monitor and found that all was okay as far as operation of start-up.
Is this XP?
Do you have the XP cd or the recovery cd's. This needs to be fixed by performing a Windows repair.
missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system"means that the OS,XP, is missing an essential file to run.
Or it could mean that your hard drive is failing. Is the hard drive noisey?

My first thought is a video inverter.
Install an external monitor and see if the problem persists.
If it doesn't then it is the LCD on the laptop.
Good luck

Hi,
With the laptop turned on, shine a bright light onto the screen. Can you see anything on the screen (like windows log on screen)? If so, your inverter has failed. This can be replaced relatively easily. Please post back with the results of the above.
