Hi, When the paper is fed through Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is is scanned before copy or fax. The scanner is fixed type and is located just below the ADF. The
lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is
based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the Control Panel (scanner top )(by pulling it up from front - the area from where the paper to scan comes out). Look out for the horizontal
mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the
scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning and copying!
Inspect
for any tron pieces of paper dirt etc.DONT USE PAPER, CHEMICALS OR ANY ABRASIVE
CLOTH as it may damage the parts. Also note that your machine can scan an image only 8.15 inches wide, regardless of how wide the paper is.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
sorry but the drum has nothing to do with the SCAN problem, only for PRINTING problems, if you have a BLACK STRIP when you scan, you must check the SCANNING lamp for obstruction (liquid paper contaminant) on the scanning window or for other debrie that prevent the scanner to scan properly is it a dual feed??? (flat bed or top load)???
The problem is either dirty glass for the ADF which you can clean, or the ADF cannot feed the paper you are trying to scan through accurately. Most smaller all in one printers use the same scanner element for both the ADF and flat glass scanning so the fact that glass scanning is fine points to the two problems listed above.
happened to me after i fed a page with not-too-hard whiteout on it. the feeder makes the page run through a different piece of glass and i just had to clean it.
Open ADF and close again. There must be tab in the ADF which is not pressing a microswitch located in the lower part of the ADF. IF you can locate it, try pressing it manually.
I have same problem! The copy/scan function would feed the orginal from the ADF halfway and instead of making a normal loud feeding noise it made a horriable alarming sound and displayed an error message. To fix it: I waited a day or two and bang the top of the feeder cover with normal force while the original is feeding. It appeared the problem is resolved. I have no idea what the problem is, however I think if this work for few months at a time is fine by me.
If the paper isn't feeding in the ADF (automatic document feeder - upper paper feeder) then the ADF roller assembly will need to be replaced. Try a copy on the flat glass area. If it work, then it's the ADF, If not then the upper scanner assembly with have to be replaced.
