Having problems upgrading my GatewayDX4840-11e to 32GB of memory.

I tried to upgrade my GatewayDX4840-11e from its original 8GB to the specified maximum of 32GB. Twice. The new memory does not work in the machine and I have to revert to the old memory. New memory consists of four 8GB sticks, per the spec. Old memory consists of four 2GB sticks. The computer does not finish the Power-On Self Test, halting during the memory test.

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS.

Thank You

Unfortunately, it turns out that Gateway's specs were wrong. The particular motherboard they use (H57H-AM2), only accepts up to 16GB of RAM, per the motherboard's manufacturer. Gateway tells me that they will update the specification page to reflect this.

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

Unfortunately I was unaware of the spec changes. Sorry if I was misleading.

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

Until someone else pointed it out to me, and I pointed it out to Gateway (with documentation), no one seems to have been aware of the spec problem. Don't blame yourself for Gateway's inaccurate specs.

How do I format sandisk 32gb on a samsung sph-p500 tablet

Try as you may, 32Gb sandisk won't work on your Samsung sph-p500 tablet; at least, for now.

You may have to step down to a lower Gigabyte sandisk memory card; say 16Gb or 8Gb.

Most phones or tablets don't recognize and won't even allow you access any memory card inserted having higher storage capacity than it was built/designed/configured/manufactured to handle/access.

Low memory message

Unfortunately, on many cell phones that don't have very much main memory, the standard set of apps on an android phone will tend to take up the majority of the free memory. This leaves you with next to no main memory to install apps in. You'll find that many phones that have 8gb of ram suffer from this issue when they've hardly installed any apps at all. You can try installing a micro sd card to expand the memory and see if your phone will allow you to move any of the applications to the memory card to free up space in the main memory. Having to deal with this is very frustrating and, the only real solution I know of is to try to make sure that any phone you upgrade to has no less than 16gb ram, hopefully 32gb minimum and having an expansion memory chip (MicroSD card) that you can save any pictures, music & other files to ..with hopefully the ability to move some apps to the MicroSD memory as well to keep from running into the same Low Memory problem again.
Best of luck. I hope this helps some..

How can i convert 4GB pendrive to 8GB ...?

There is no way of doing this. If your pen drive is 4GB, that means it has only 4GB of memory chips in it. The only way to get 8GB is to buy an 8GB drive. Do not buy an upgraded (to 8GB) one, as they are lower memory ones that have had the firmware tinkered with to show 8GB, when the actual memory capacity is far less.

I just purchased a new Acer Aspire AS7741G-6426 Laptop. I want to upgrade from 4GB memory to 8GB memory. I need to know what brand and specs to look for.

Just refer to your laptop manual. If your manual got lost go to the  acer website and find your product and download the manual.http://www.acer.com.ph/ac/en/PH/content/home .

when upgrading your memory you have to consider the following:

the processor: if your processor has 4gb compatibility mem you can upgrade upto 6 to 8gb.

take note that you must not exceed to 8gb or else your processor might be damage.

get the processor speed: example core 2 i3 processor, 1.0GHZ-the frequency.

the Memory or RAM(random access memory): get ther specification: example is DDR1 or DDR3

PC133 or PC 400. Thats all.

Note: your current memory must have the same memory module(example PC400,PC 133)  or else it wont work.if your going to upgrade your current 4gb PC400 you have to add 4gb memory in PC400 module also.

Just upgraded memory ram on acer 5100 now having startup trouble. Will startup then shuts down...tried memory diagnostic, status memory ok.

If you just upgraded memory and are having problems, the system memory is more than likely causing the problem. Try either taking out the new memory and leaving in the old (if you added a memory stick), or placing the old memory back in the computer and try starting up. Your memory could be either incompatible or it could not be seated properly.

So, if you replaced all of your memory in the upgrade, place the old memory back in and try to start up. If you added memory, then just remove the new piece you put in and try to start with only one card. I don't know how much memory you have.

Try this and let me know what happens.

Hello I have 16gb memory card in my i68 sciphone, however even though i have mp3 song stored on my sd card, when i access the audio app it says no tracks. also when i am browsing with WIFI it keeps saying...

Original I68 can read only 2Gb card. You may try to change phones operating system. There are new ROM's to upgrade I68 in net, but you must find, if it improve memory card capacity. Upgrade procedure is difficult and need special cable and application "MTK tools". Some I9/I9+++ (the same phone's board) has "16Gb" or "32Gb" sign on deck - this does mean that phone can handle with 16Gb or 32 GB card.

You should go to Crucial.com and run their online tool for ram upgrades. It will tell you exactly how much and what type of memory to add.

Thanks for using FixYa.
