How to open Harman Kardon Go Play

Hello, does anybody know how to open this device? Removing all visible screws from the bottom of device will not work. I have shorted the springs in the battery box because most of my batteries haven't fit. Now the device will not more working from battery though the 8 batteries have 13 volt (voltmeter) Thank you.

I have opened it. Behind the grill at bottom side are 2 screws (near the bass speaker). I failed to remive the grill, so I have drilled 2 holes in the grill at the positions the screws are. But unfortunately inside there is no damaged cabel, the device gets 13 volt, so what the hell is here going wrong? Why does the unit not work from battery after cutting the springs???

Unit is working again. Have bypassed cables from battery-pack to 24v input from power supply and added a switch into case. Now I can power on battery use from outside. If anybody needs pictures I can make some.

there's a hex screw in the battery compartment

  • Anonymous May 31, 2013

Oh, longe time ago! I have got it opend. removing alle screws from bottom side is the frist step. There are screws in battery pack - they are not required. On bottom side there are two additional screws behind perforated metal plate near the bass speaker. Taking a flashlight und you will find them. The problem is that these screws are unter the metal plate - so I have drilled 2 holes direct above the screws to accomplish the screws. When you have removed these screws it is very easy to open the case. My unit is working again and the sound of this device is fantastic.

How do I access the capacitors on the bottom circuit board in Harman Kardon AVR3550? Can I get to them from underneath the unit?

Normally when you remove a unit's case everything is fixed to the base and the back. You remove the screws in the board and lift it up. See if this video helps, which is also a capacitor removal.

Harman kardon go and play don't have video out port

If I understand you correctly the Harman Kardon does not supply the output video and usb ports. Since this is a go and play they pobably felt it was not needed. to impliment these changes would require a complete design change.

According to Harman Kardon, they are no longer supporting the GPS units they sold and have no map updates. Do you know if there is an independent company that is selling map updates, or if the Harman...

it also includes technical support phone numbers and links so you can ask them directly. I wouldn't trust running other software rendering it unusable without asking them first.

Removing cover from speaker

pull off the cloth cover by using your nail or a screwdriver to get behind it. its simply a push fit cover.then you can acess the screws. there are 4 deep in the holes where the cloth covers connected to the speaker and there are 4 holding the actual speaker to the face that are plainly visible once cloth front cover is removed.
