My Samsung was fixed for "free." Call Samsung service 800 number. When asked why you are calling tell them it is about the white dots problem. The tech said he would help me solve the issue and provide me with repair order from a local Electronics dealer. I was given a work order number by the tech and did receive a call from the local repair organization. My DLP is over 36 months old so I asked if this was a "no charge" fix. He assured me that it is. Low and behold I am 100% satisfied with Samsung and the standing behind the product. The fix is a chip replacement that Samsung is well aware of.

i have the exact problem as you. just spoke to samsung 800# and was told i was responsible for charges. any advice?

  • Anonymous Dec 27, 2012

I have the same problem with my Samsung 67-inch DLP TV. Samsung Cusotmer Service Manager said that the TV model is not experiencing high breakdown so they will not cover the repair cost. It will cost me between $300 to $400 to replace a stupid defective chip. Whar a lousy excuse and poor customer service.

  • Anonymous May 19, 2013

Wow Don I it sounds alot like what they told me, I was told the same thing about the model I have. The rep told me it wasnt on their list of free repair so I have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. That happened in Aug last year.

Thanks to Butch351. I first called Bestbuy and they wanted $149 just to come and check the problem. Instead I follwed Butch351 advise and called Samsung directly. The said that they will send someone to repair it for FREE even that my TV is 2 yrs.old.

Hi there lets see.

i will be better for me if you post a picture of your TV problem so i can see better and diagnostic i can't say for sure its the DMD. white spots usually are. Maybe its just the chip,

These white dots are a very conmenissue when the DMD board is starting to go bad (the integrated DMV chip). The DMDcontrols the color wheel and the light engine; it’s in charge of manipulatingthe light engine so it can project a picture on the screen. A test you can try:bring up the TV menu. If the white dots appear in the menu, then that willincrease the probability of a malfunctioning DMD, if not then the digital videoboard will raise suspicion. Now if you decide to buy a new DMD you’ll have tosearch by part number, NOT by model number, the main reason is that two TVs withthe same model number me have none compatible components because they are differentgeneration when they where assembled.
Also if by any chance you can’tfind the DMD sold separately, your next option is to buy the entire lightengine that includes the DMD, and obviously that’s going to be more expensive. Ifyour trying to save lots of money and you really know what your buying try eBay,you can get a really good deal, how ever if you are not familiar with TV parts, and don’t want to take a chance buying something that might not work, tryonline stores that specialize in TV parts (my personal recommendation: Discount-Merchant.com ).

Losing pixels like crazy

Shure, you can have it fixed. I strongly suggest that you call around and check prices first. Samsung IS a quality brand. How many TENS OF THOUSANDS, if not more units do you think they make? Getting ONE bad, is a pretty god ratio. Sorry it had to be you that bought the bad one.

I have a samsung HLS4266WX/XAA about 3 years old with white dots.

This is a known issue with Samsung DLP sets. Here's a link to the solution:

Own a Samsung DLP TV 42 inch and white dots have

The random whit dots you are seeing is more than not the DMD or million little mirrors board. The white spots represent some of the mirrors that are sticking in the on position. In that case they are always reflecting white light from the lamp. I don't concider the DMD board a do it yourself repair since on the older DLP set it requires mechanical alignment as well. The best thing to do is contact a techincian and see what they might charge to repair the TV for you. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks..

White dots appearing on Samsung TV screen and multipling each day

It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
