Vs248 hdmi doesnt work

The HDMI doesn't work. What kind of test can be done? If I plug in a DVI cable that works. If I plug in a VGA cable that works. But an HDMI cable won't work. I can't get the montitor on to set settings in it.

I found the solution on the Asus website. They have a step by step find a solution process. There is a button near the on/off button that you can press to select the kind of connection you are using.I am glad I found the solution on line but you would think that information would come in the very little information booklet that comes with it.By the way. So far, this is an excellent monitor.

What kind of DVI cable is needed to connect to a SOYO DYLM1988 monitor DVI input with Laptop HDMI output?

You don't say from what to what? Questions like this need
'make model (what it is)' for both items. However DVI is normally a Computer Monitor and there is only one type of cable. When you connect, the monitor see the computer as the source. Sometimes you need to go to the computer Display Settings and select DVI.

My computer is a SyncMasterP2570HD i cant get any sound to come out but it is detecting sound how do i fix it

The Samsung SyncMaster P2570hd is a monitor with speakers; it isn't the computer itself. I'll assume that you are dealing with a computer connected to the monitor and not a set-top box. Make sure that Mute is not enabled on the computer. There should be an icon on the lower right hand side of a Windows desktop. If the mute is enabled, it will have a red circle with a diagonal line through it. Left click on the icon to remove the mute (change the volume or click on the mute icon). Test the monitor's speakers by connecting it to another device with known good audio output.

Next how are you connecting the monitor to the computer (VGA, DVI or HDMI)? If you are using VGA or DVI (including DVI to HDMI), you need to connect an audio patch cable (3.5 mm) between the speaker (green port on the back of a sound card) or headphone jack of the computer and the audio input jack of the monitor. The audio input jack is between the DVI and VGA ports. You can test the output of the speaker jack on the computer with regular computer speakers. Plug in the power cord (or USB cable) for powered speakers. If the free-standing speakers work, check the volume setting on the monitor with the +/- buttons to the right of the menu button. Do not press menu first, though. If that doesn't solve the problem, continue using the separate speakers. (Unless the monitor is still under warranty, it usually isn't worth taking apart a monitor to replace the speakers. You may be able find replacement parts online.)

If you are using an HDMI cable, check the output audio setting to see if the HDMI audio is available. For Windows, click on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound (Windows 7). Then click on Manage Audio Devices under Sound. In the Playback tab, check what available audio devices you have. Make the HDMI the default device by right-clicking on it and selecting Make this the default device. (Other versions of Windows will a slightly different route to this panel.) You may need to restart the computer to get the audio signal on the HDMI cable after setting this. Note: not all video cards/computers support HDMI audio. If you don't see HDMI listed in the Playback devices, connect an audio patch cable as with a VGA or DVI cable, described above. Use stand-alone speakers if the monitor's speakers are bad.

I hope this helps.

(I have had the speakers fail in monitors; <$30 separate speakers are an adequate replacement for those built into a flat panel monitor.)

What kind of wire do I need to connect my samsung laptop to panasonic viera hd 3d plasma tv?

Most TVs will have HDMI and RCA component and composite jacks. Some TVs will also have a VGA port. Your laptop will have a VGA port. (If the laptop is fairly new, it may also have an HDMI port.)

Not all TVs will support an HDMI signal from a computer, so the VGA signal is often better. However, that limits you to SD (anything with HDCP will fail.)

Very few TVs ship with the HDMI or component cables. However, there are some vendors who do package the HDMI cable with their TV. Without knowing which exact model of TV and laptop, I can only make a few suggestions. I know that the TCP42ST30 (Plasma 42") doesn't have a VGA port.

Look at your laptop for any external monitor port. VGA ports are generally blue female ports with 15 holes (D-Sub). If your TV has a matching VGA port, get a standard VGA monitor cable.

If you have the VGA port on the laptop but not on the TV, you can try a converting from VGA to HDMI. (You may need a DVI to VGA adapter and either a DVI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter.) Note: this gives an analog signal (RGB format) to the TV. You'll also need to make sure that your VGA port is active (in the BIOS for some computers) and then set your computer to send the signal to the external monitor. It is best to turn off both the computer and the TV before connecting the two. Then turn on the TV and set it to the correct input before turning on the computer. (In Windows 7, I set the video signal for the external monitor by right clicking on the desktop and selecting Graphics Properties. Set the signal to the external monitor and click Apply. Then click OK (in the external monitor's screen).)

If this doesn't work, you need a VGA to component video converter. (Not a VGA to component video cable - those are for projectors that read the RGB signal.) See http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/video-converters/vga-rgb-hv-to-component-video/c10000-c11200-c11215-p1.html .

Some laptops come with an HDMI, mini-HDMI or a DisplayPort option. For the latter two, you will need the appropriate cable with that end and the HDMI connector on the other. Then connect the TV and the computer as described above. (Note: my TVs accept a computer signal at the HDMI port labeled HDMI/DVI. However, you need to make sure that your TV understands this signal. It isn't the same format as that from a set-top box. My laptop has VGA and HDMI out; the desktops have VGA, DVI and HDMI (on one).)

If you add a comment with the model of your TV and laptop, I'll be glad to give you more specific options to connect the TV and the computer.

I hope this helps.

(A DVI port is a digital video out option with ~21 pins and is usually white.)

Want to connect TV to PC and need to know how to connect

You can most likely connect your computer to your TV, but it depends on what kind of connections your computer has and what inputs your TV has. The best solution would be if your computer has an HDMI port and your TV also has one. If your computer doesn't have one but it has a DVI connecter, that is the second best solution because you can just get a DVI to HDMI adaptor. The last solution is the worst case scenario because it is analog. If your computer and TV both have VGA (the blue trapezoid plug) you can just get a VGA cable and connect the two like that. The reason that is the worst is because the quality is not that good, but in the end it will work. If you want sound, you will need a cable unless you have an HDMI port on your computer and TV. If you don't just go to the store and get a 3.5 mm headphone jack to RCA connectors and plug that into your TV.

I have a HP m7570n. How do I use a flat screen tv as a monitor

This depends on the TV's available inputs. The Pavilion m7570n has only a VGA output in the standard configuration.

Thus if the TV has a VGA port, turn off the computer and the TV. Then connect a standard VGA (RGB or D-sub 15-pin) m/m cable between the computer and the TV. To use the TV speakers, connect a 3.5 mm audio patch cable between the computers Line-out (green speaker port) to the VGA audio in. Turn on the TV and set the input to VGA (with the Source or Input button on the remote or the TV). Then turn on the computer. Windows XP should find the correct resolution to work with the TV. (If you turn on the TV after turning on the computer, you may get an unsupported signal. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to restart the computer.) If it doesn't work, you may need to connect a different monitor and set the computer to a low resolution before connecting the TV and the computer.

If the TV only has composite or component video inputs, you will need a VGA to video converter (http://www.svideo.com/pctocomponent.html for example). A VGA to component cable will not work; those are for projectors that read an RGB input. TVs interpret YPbPr.

If you have added a video graphics card, you may have an HDMI and/or DVI port(s) on the card. In that case, check the specs of the TV. Some TVs will support HDMI or DVI-HDMI inputs from a computer. Others will not (since computer video signals are not the same as the signal from a set-top box). If you use a DVI-HDMI connector, make sure to use the HDMI port labeled for DVI and connect the audio cable as with the VGA connection. If you use an HDMI connection, you may need to set the sound properties to that of the HDMI port. (Find the control panel item for sound (under Hardware) and then select Manage Audio Devices. Set the Playback properties. If it doesn't work, use an audio patch cable.) Some TVs have RCA audio inputs for the HDMI-DVI connector. In that case, you will need a female 3.5 mm to RCA M/M adapter (if you use a 3.5 mm patch cable). There is a similar device if you want to use an RCA audio cable. You may need to enable the video ports on the graphics card before swapping monitors.

Some video cards have a TV out. In that case, connect the appropriate connector (should come with the video card). Then connect to the component, composite or S-video input on the TV.

Again turn off the TV and the computer before making any connections.

You will probably need to provide your own cables for must of these connection options.

I hope this helps.

I have a Samsung Series 6-650 LCD TV (Model # LN46A650A1F). I am trying to connect my Laptop to use the TV as a monitor and have done everything to make it work, using a VGA/HDMI cable, but the TV refuses...

Why do you use VGA-HDMI cable? This TV works fine with VGA cable - it has VGA plug.
Or if your notebook has DVI output, then you can use DVI/HDMI cable and connect it to the TV to plug named DVI/HDMI (only one HDMI input is marked as DVI on TV).
I suppose that over HDMI the TV supports only some standard resolutions, but over VGA it supports almost every resolution laptops use. You can find supported resolutions for each input in the TV manual. Try setting the same resolution on the laptop.

What kind of connector do I use to connect a dell laptop to a Hitachi 42'' plasma display? HDMI to DVI or HDMI to VGA?

If the TV has a VGA connector then use a VGA to VGA cable from your laptop as most laptops have a VGA output. Otherwise use one of the other combinations that work HDMI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI..
