I have a 9130 which is incorrectly reporting an error, saying the Magenta ink cartridge is empty. The date on that cartridge is 2009/07/10. I tried new, full, replacement cartridge with a date of 2008/11/12. It shows the same issue. It was working until today. What gives?
Look to see if there is dirt or other debris inside the Magenta Ink slot. There is probably something there disrupting the ink flow. Use a flash light to see if ink is clogged. Use Acohol with Q tip to clean the area and reinsert the ink cartridge. Make sure the printer is off and the slot has dried before turning the printer back on.
Hope this helps. Helen
Problems with Hewlett Packard Officejet 4355 printing can often be due to issues with the cartridges. The printer has two cartridges, one black and white, and one color. Both can be physically inspected for problems. The printer also has a self-test report to determine if there is a non-obvious problem with the cartridge. The report can provide valuable information, including status.
Take the black ink cartridge out of the slot on the right. Be careful not to touch the ink nozzles or the copper contacts.
Look at the cartridge and make sure that the plastic shipping tape isn't still attached. There shouldn't be any tape covering the ink nozzles.
Replace the black cartridge and then perform Steps 1 and 2 on the color cartridge. The color cartridge is the one on the left side.
Print a self-test report. Load paper in the tray and press "Setup." Press "2" and then "4." The HP Officejet 4355 will print a report. Make sure the lines of color extend across the page. Missing, faded or streaky lines can indicate a cartridge failure. If the color bars don't show as black, cyan, magenta and yellow, you should clean the cartridges.
Press "Setup" and then press "6" and then "1." The print cycle will commence. Allow it to complete and then print another test report. If the test still shows errors, replace the cartridges.
