did you turn the fuel shut off valve on? check for compression

Try checking the plug end cap with an ohm meter for an "open line" reading.
I changed the coil on my no spark Honda G300 and reused the original resistor cap.
However I discovered it was the resistor cap that was at fault.
To fix I used a rubber boot and metal end cap from a car plug wire but new replacement caps are readily available.
Now have a strong spark.

Getting your Goldwing running good is probably as simple as putting on 4 new NGK brand spark plug caps (about $5) and 4 brand new spark plugs. The resisters burn out in the plug caps and make the motor sound like it needs a carburetor cleaning and a full engine rebuild. Is there sufficient oil in the crankcase? Most all generators have an oil level sensor that shuts down the ignition if the oil level gets low.

i have one that did the same and found out it was the interanl coil...
