Dell Inspiron 1440 notebook failed to start windows

DELL INSPIRON 1440 NOTEBOOK : notebook will not start windows. Message on booting up says "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.... Startup repair can help diagnose and fix the problem." The prompt offers two options 1) to launch startup repair and 2) Start Windows normally. I have tried both of these options and they both go to the "microsoft corporation" loading page and then the screen goes completely blank with the exception of a few decorative leaves on a blue background. I also tried tapping F8 during bootup and disabling automatic restart. Nothing seems to work. Help.

You probably have a mbr virus. Try this:

Download The following iso listed below. It is the latest version of the Kaspersky rescue disk. You need to burn it to a CD with a program like Imgburn (Which is also FREE like the iso file). Then you need to boot from the CD and run the scanner. It should fix you right up.

Kaspersky rescue cd download:

Usually this happens when the vista boot loader fails. During boot up, keep tapping F8 and then select Disable Automatic Restart... and get the stop error code which usually starts with 0x

SOURCE: DELL INSPIRON 1525 NOTEBOOK :

This sounds like the dreaded Windows Vista Black Screen of Death (KSOD). you might have a bad hard drive, but even more likely some software or a driver is causing a problem and caused Vista to get stuck. The repair will not work. You might be able to run a complete repair from the Windows Vista CD, if you have one. If you are not too experienced, take it to a reputable computer service center. If you are at all technical and have time, google your problem and you will see thousands of similar users with same problems.

This is one reason Microsoft released Windows 7 so soon.

My dell inspiron 1440 will only say bootmrg is missins

this could be a software fault requiring repair of windows oerating system using the windows installation cd or it could be a more serious problem of a broken hard drive which will need a new one.
before this check the boot order of your system by preesing f8 or f12 or entering setup and looking in the bios at the boot order. if it is wrong set to boot from hard drive.

Error code 2000 0146

This is the error code for a failed or failing Hard Disk Drive.
Try to boot from a recovery disk and run the Drive Self Test from the utilities known as 32 bit diagnostics.
Good luck

Dell Inspiron 1440 notebook cannot start.

I have seen these symptoms before when the hard disk drive has failed. It will hand on the POST screen (The part with the DELL logo) for slightly longer than usual due to fault with the drive, after that it will attempt to boot and error from the hard disk so quickly you see nothing but the laptop appear to cut out. Although the hard disk is the most likely thing to be at fault these issues could potentially be caused by any one of the parts within you laptop being broken.

If you are fairly tech savvy try downloading this utility "Seatools" http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/ burn it to a bootable CD. Put the bootable CD in you DELL laptop and boot off it, by pressing F12 and selecting to boot from CD/DVD drive. Then run a "Long test" once this test is complete the software will advise you whether the hard disk is faulty or not.

If you are not confident in trying this I would recommend taking the laptop to be diagnosed by your local computer repair business.

On my Dell Inspiron Wont Boot

Hello,

This is telling you that your hard drive has failed. If it is in warranty, then contact Dell and they will fix it free of charge. If not, then get a new hard drive and reinstall windows/drivers/software with the discs that came with the laptop. Or you could take it in to a service shop and they will do it for you.

Hope this helps!

Dell inspiron 1525 shows black screen after dell logo?

The computer cant find a bootable device. Either your boot sector on your Hard drive is gone/damaged (most likely a virus) or the Hard drive failed. Start with booting with your windows disk and try to do a repair installation.
