I have a Minn Kota 80 lb thrust bow mounted trolling motor with a manual operating handle that goes in to reverse while driving forward. Why?

It's for salt water and is 4 years old. Just had the mother board replaced during the annual service this year.

Check make sure its not wired backwards to batteries

Hey Chris,, you are starting a project (or wanting to) that is going to be problematic... It will be easier to go buy a new trolling motor with the money you are going to spend attempting this conversion... the newer trolling motors are so much more efficient...

TOOK THE BOLTS OUT OF MINN KOTA AND CANT GET THEM IN. 2 SHORT.

Hi!
Here's a schematic:
Max 74 Bowmount
Make sure the end housing #7has a small mark in it pointed to the bottom (towards the skeg). The bolts can be a pain to line up!
Also make sure the armature is all the way forward it can go....past the brushes is the toughest part to get through and lined up. Keep it up, you'll get it!
