There is a dark line through the left side of the print running from top to bottom. The line occurs when printing either 8.5x11 or 11x17 paper through either of the lower trays. The 8.5x11 line runs from left to right along the top portion of the print and the 11x17 line runs from top to bottom on the left side of the print. However I am able to print 8.5x11 through the bypass without getting the line but the line still remains on the 11x17 print. Any suggests for help? Thanks in advance, Ryan

Did you re-fill the black toner cartridge with genuine Ricoh toner or from somewhere else? It might be the wrong granularity.

check the "photoconductor unit" (pg 37 in the Maintance manual)
ours was doing it with the magenta and saw a faint 'scratch' on the roller. will attempt to replace and report back if this fixes it.

It may be the fuser. Take it out and inspect the roller on it:
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

It sounds like the black drum unit needs to be replaced.

This is almost certainly the PCU. There are two. One for Black. One for Color. Print a B/W page and see if there are lines. Print a color test page and see if there are lines. This happens a lot to these printers.
To verify, carefully remove the suspect PCU and look at the bottom of it (the shiny roller) Be careful not to spill toner !! You will see the lines on the PCU itself. Replace the bad PCU. If it is the color one, and you are low on toner, you may be better off replacing the printer due to cost.
