Question about Hoover HTC243 Top Load Washer

My old Hoover top loader Washer is noisy & doesn't spin out properly - how can I fix it?

My old Hoover top loader Washer ("Commodore") has recently become very noisy & often stops during spin cycle & doesn't spin out properly - how can I fix it? It used to often get unbalanced & stop during the spin cycle if I put a small or medium load in (especially if there was a towel in that stayed on just one half of the drum). But it was usually easily remedied by making sure the towel, or whatever, was evenly around the drum. Now it stops about 10 times during a wash cycle & sometimes the clothes are not spum out properly. Often I have to take half of the clothes out (especially the wet heavy towels) in order to get it to spin. I have also taken to giving the drum a good shake in order to get it to spin since sometimes if I take all the clothes out & try to get it to spin with no clothes in, it doesn't always start spinning until given a good shake! I hope that someone can give me a better way to fix this problem! ;-)

My top load 7.5 kg Hoover also goes through to the spin cycle which it does not perform. Water empties but that is it. The problem was previously intermittent. I just had a technician visit and he said the bearings were in poor condition and the machine (5 yrs old) is not worth repairing. Frankly the repairer didn't come across as very trustworthy just wanted a quick 5 minute visit for the service charge and leave. I would have thought that if the bearings were worn the machine would still spin but apparently not, he said water leaked through the bearing. So the first wash might spin but others would not after the water seeped in.

shakes when empty on spin cycle, with clothes won"t spin

Sounds like the switch which cuts the machine off when the load is unbalanced. My guess is that: This switch is being triggered too easily The springs holding the bowl up are either stretched or one is broken; The machine may not be level.

I have a Hoover Top Loader HNT2135. The problem is that it will not spin. Makes a noise as though it is going to spin but doesn't manage to.

If it does make noise and does not spin it is usually the drain pump clogged. Disconnect power, reach the drain pump and check for blockage in there . If that is not the problem check in order drain hose at the back, lid switch, pressure switch, and finally pump and motor from underneath the washer. The switches and motors can be tested using a multimeter.

Here a page about drain/spin problem.

Top loader 600MB fills water but wont wash or spin.Water fills to right level and timer turns o.k.

Check the lid switch for proper operation. If the switch is bad or not being actuated by the lowered lid, it will block operation of the machine.

I have a Hoover 550 MB Top Loader washing machine . The cycle won't move from wash to spin . it doesn;t progress out of wash cycle , it stays there forever .

Will the unit spin if you manually turn the timer dial to spin? If so, remove power, remove the clock motor from the timer, and inspect the clock and mating timer gearing for debris or damaged gear teeth. At the worst, replace the timer. You may be able to scrape or file the damaged teeth so that the timer will progress.

GE Top load washer 15years old. noisy when spinning

washer making a load cluck noise when the spin cycle starts.
It only happens when the motor turns slow for the first minute during the spin cycle. Otherwise it works fine.
if the motor is proper then the bearings in the motor got rusted and that needs replacement.the beasrings are located on the back of the motor.

Danby washing machine noisy only during spin cycle

hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Hoover washing machine (commodore 5.0 kg)

this is either a belt slip or a squeeling bearing ater seal, if it is not the belt then try doing a boil wash, this often resolves the problem. Regards Advisor
