Not all memory cards are created equal. Some cards are faster than others. There's more data to be recorded with a high-definition video than with a lower-resolution video. Your card apparently isn't fast enough to handle that much data. There are two possible solutions. One, as the camcorder suggests, is to record at a lower resolution. The other is to get and use a faster card. Since you didn't specify the make and model of your camcorder, I can't tell you what speed card you need. Please refer to the specifications page in the manual, or the section on memory cards.
DO NOT format the recorder. That will wipe it clean. The computer does not recognize the device. There must be a piece of software needed to allow the computer to recognize it. If you have an old pc forget it. Dont know about macs.
I had the same problem. I had to delete the maps and reinstall them once I was in the game. After that it should recognize them. Once in awhile it will still do it but I just restart once (or twice in some cases)and it recognizes them.

I have an MPIO HD-200. Does Windows play the sound like you have something attached when you plug it in? Or does Windows not regognize it al all? Either way, I've had to play with mine after I've dropped it a couple of times. I charge the battery all the way, then just keep plugging and unplugging from the USB wire. The last time, it took 20+ times before Windows would recognize it.
