Problem with Vizio SV421XVT

My Vizio TV was set to HDMI and connected to my computer to watch movies. A thunderstorm fried my PC and I can't reset the TV input from HDMI to TV. The Vizio will Not even turn on unless connected to the HDMI port on my computer. How can I reset the input to TV if the TV will not even turn on without being connected to the computer? Please help. Thanks

I am also having the same symptoms for my SV421XVT. TV works great except all HDMI ports are not receiving signal. Devices work through the AV Ports, and TV reception is fine. New Roku box is also not working through HDMI but works with AV. Wish I had a solution to this.

On a another forum for another TV it was suggested that boards need to be replaced. I hope I can get these boards for a reasonable cost.

SOURCE: Connecting an LCD TV to a computer to use as TV and Comp. Monitor.

Im no expert on the subject, but I use my L37 for a monitor, and use just the vga adapter. It works good as a monitor, and both dvds and my hdtv wonder tuner card look great through the vga connection. They do make adapters for dvi to hdmi. Although, hdmi also carries sound, but you wont get that out of your dvi output from your card. So you might not have sound when using that connection, as your tv may not look to the headphone type jack used for sound imput from your computer when you select the hdmi source on it. If you have speakers already connected to your computer you may not care. Also if you have a 720 p Vizio, 1366x768 is the highest resolution you are going to get out of it anyway, if I'm not mistaken. I'm Not sure why you would need 2 connectios to the same monitor either. I posted 1 link below because they had several dvi to hdmi adapters. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Vizio LCD Green Pixels

Our Vizio started doing the same thing after only three weeks, except it was also showing green pixel when we watched DVDs.  After checking this site and others and trying all the "tweaking" advised, I finally called Vizio's customer support.  They were extremely polite and tried to help over the phone, but had to send someone to the house to make the repair (anything 40 inches or larger earns a house call). The tech arrived on time and was extremely professional and pleasant -- he had to replace the daughter board and LVDS cables.  So far, so good.

SOURCE: Vizio SV421XVT won't turn on.

When you say it does not turn on, do you mean that the LED at the front indicates its on but there is no picture or sound or is it stuck in standby mode? Please provide this info so that I can tell you what the problem is and how to fix it.

How do I set my Vizio tv up so it will let me watch movies on a Sony DVDs player

Assuming the DVD player has an HDMI port, run an HDMI cable from the DVD player to an available HDMI port on the TV. Let's say you have your TV service going to HDMI #1 on the TV, you can run the DVD to HDMI #2. When you want to watch a DVD, you must select the input/source on the TV remote to change it to HDMI 2(or whichever port you used). When ready to watch TV again, use the same button to change back to HDMI 1 (or whichever HDMI port you used for TV service). If you do not have an HDMI port on the DVD player, then you must use whatever type of connection it has and connect to the corresponding port(s) on your tv, Then follow same directions as above regarding choosing the input/source on the TV remote.

Part 1: Know about Vizio Smart TV

Vizio Inc. is an American privately held company that develops consumer electronics. It was founded in October 2002 and nowadays it is known as one of the best smart TV brands around the world. Just like smart phone, Vizio Smart TV can allow users to surf the Internet, download various kind apps, play game, enjoy online movies as well as watch TV programs. In addition, Vizio has powerful picture performance, beautiful design and best display ability. The most popular function is that you can even use your smartphone to control the Vizio Smart TV via App.
In spite of its powerful functions, the ability of Vizio Smart TV to play videos is still limited. Vizio can't play all kinds of videos or movies if those videos are not in the right format supported by Vizio. If you are an Apple user, you will easily notice that you can't watch iTunes movies on Vizio Smart TV because almost iTunes videos are in M4V format, a video container format developed by Apple and is optionally protected by DRM copy protection. That is the reason why iTunes movies can't be played on Vizio Smart TV. According to Vizio official website, we can find MP4 is supported by Vizio Smart TV, which means we can easily watch the iTunes movies on Vizio as long as we can remove DRM to convert M4V to MP4.

According to the above we learn that only if we remove DRM from iTunes movies can we watch iTunes movies on Vizio Smart TV. Fortunately there are many video converter you can find on the Internet, but if you need a more reliable program to perform this job, I think Leawo TunesCopy is worth using.

Differing from other video converters, it is a single function program that only can remove DRM from iTunes videos and convert M4V to MP4. However, Leawo TunesCopy is more convenient for many Apple users than other video converters because TunesCopy can automatically import users play list. Its simple and convenient interface can help you use it easily as well.
I will show you the detail about how to use Leawo TunesCopy to remove DRM from iTunes movies in the next part.

Part 3: Guide to remove DRM from iTunes movies and watch DRM-free iTunes movies on Vizio Smart TV with Leawo TunesCopy

Before following the steps below, you need to download and install Leawo Video Converter on computer first. After installing Leawo TunesCopy program, follow the guidance you will get your DRM-free iTunes movie.

Step 1: Add iTunes Movies
Open the TunesCopy and enter the main interface. Click "Add files" button to call out the submenu in which you can select the movie you want to watch on Vizio Smart TV. And then click "Add" to import the target movie.

Screen freezes, and buttons don't work!

It sounds that the main digital board to your TV has the fault. To check and locate the fault to this board is a very skilled work. Contact any service technician.

42" Vizio 240Hz SV421XVT no hdmi video or audio

Possible bad source, bad cable or connection was made with units powered up which HDMI does not like.

First thing to try in this case is to remove power from set and whatever unit is connected via HDMI and disconnect the cable itself.

Wait for several minutes, connect HDMI again and THEN return power to the units that were removed from power, this cannot hurt and may help or correct this issue.

Failing this try if possible to connect using component connections.

Vizio sv421xvt issues

It sounds like a main board issue but could be a power supply issue. I will tell you from my experience with Vizio TV's, main boards are more likely to fail than power supplies. But to be sure, you will want to either get a diagnoses or if you're handy do a little troubleshooting. The power supply and the main board are not cheap so you will certainly want to be sure before spending any money.

Ive had my vizio for 4 months and just recently the volume on the same 4 channels slowly decreases til you cant hear much. With a change of the channel or a commercial the volume returns. Recently moved to...

First - connect DVD player preferably to the same input (unless you are using RF connector) and make sure that same issue does happens while you are watching movies. If it does - main board in your TV have to be replaced. If it does not - it still cable signal problem.

HDMI ports stopped working. Only get a blue screen. Can only watch TV through AV.

If you have a cable box, then you have to pick the right source. So on your TV remote you need to pick the source button and then scroll down to HDMI 2 as the source. HDMI 1 is the blueray device. HDMI 2 to watch TV
