Your Hitachi 43FDX01B is HD-Ready, which means it has high definition capability, but it needs an HDTV Tuner added to it. DTV converters can only give you Standard Definition resolution. You can browse HDTV Tuners Now for the different types of HDTV Tuner that are available.

You Dont need one your set is HD. So when the switch happens you are good to go. The only TVs that are going to need converter boxes is those who do not have HD or only have antenna.
