I change the button battery and now when I connect the power lead
all the lights flash at the same time but nothing else happens. The display says to tune the power off then on, but it still does not work.

* Green Power light flashes- The printer is receiving a print job, replacing an ink cartridge, charging ink, or cleaning the print head.
* RED paper light is On- If the CD/DVD try guide is open, close the CD/DVD tray guide, load paper, then press the paper button.
Your paper ran out or multiple sheets loaded at the same time . Load paper and press the paper butoon to resume printing.

* RED Ink Light Flashes - One or more cartridges are low on ink. Check the message that appears on your screen to determine which cartridge is low, or follow the instructions in " Checking the Ink Supply". Make sure you have a replacement cartridge.
* RED Ink Light is ON- One or more cartridges are out of ink or not installed. If you have just installed a new cartridge, it may be incomaptible with the printer or incorrectly installed. Reinstall it or replace it with the correct cartridge
* RED Ink and RED paper lights flash alternately- The CD/DVD tray guide was left open when you turned on the printer or when printing on paper. Just simply close it/

Turn off the printer, then open the cover and remove any jammed paper or other foreign objects. Turn the printer back on again. Or it may have an internal error. I thought the other day that a lot of people may be interested in having
access to the vast pool of knowledge that myself and my staff dispense
on a daily basis to my customers. As a nationwide supplier of printing
consumables we often get asked by customers about related problems they
are having with there printers, and obviously we gladly help out anyone
we can as opposed to customers having to call expensive manufacturers
help lines at premium rate call tariffs.
A favourite question we
get asked is "I have just gone to print something off on my Epson Inkjet
printer and it will not print", I then ask the customer how they have
done this and have they changed any printer settings or installed new
software recently. The answer is usually no I have not changed any
settings or installed any thing. Our next question is "What are the
lights /buttons on the front of the printer doing?" The common answer
is, "they are all flashing at once, even if I switch the printer off at
the socket and switch it on again".
We now know what the problem
is! There is I believe a method built into an Epson printer that counts
the amount of printing you have done, a bit like a car speedo measures
the mileage you have done, but unlike a car where when you hit a certain
mileage a light or warning will come up at worst and tell you the car
needs a service. The Epson printer just stops dead and all the lights
flash, if you dig a little deeper into your instruction manual/disc it
tells you to call the Epson help line, who then tell you the printer
needs a service at your local Epson dealers. I duly took my faithful C82
epson printer to my local Epson service centre; very help full and who
charged me and gave me back a printer that worked.
This
intrigued me so I asked a couple of my computer tech customers if they
could shed any light on the matter, and they both confirmed my
suspicions. You plug in the correct software and reset the counter. It
is nothing to do with your computer, your printer, your brand of inkjet
cartridges or your computer. It is simply Epson's way of getting you to
their service centre.
So if you come to print with your Epson
inkjet printer and it will not, and then proceeds to flash all of its
lights at you. You now know what to do, unlike quite a few of my
customers including my self, who spent hours reinstalling software,
trying new sets of cartridges, both genuine Epson cartridge and the more
popular compatible ones. I hope this saves some one some grief and
frustration.
The flashing is a code. Depending on if it is flashing fast, slow or so on... Turn to page 32 of this manual for more information.

Follow the steps below to clean the print head using the Head Cleaning utility.
Make sure that the printer is turned on and the ink out light is off.
Access the printer software.
Click the Maintenance tab, then click the HeadCleaning button.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
The power light flashes while the printer performs the cleaning cycle.
Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing. Doing so may damage the printer.
When the power light stops flashing, load a few sheets of paper and click Print Nozzle Check Pattern in the Head Cleaning dialog box to confirm that the print head is clean.
If the machine is making "working noises" while it flashes, it is most likely calibrating. A good way to find out if the problem is due to connectivity issues with your computer is to turn the machine off, unplug for 1 minute, plug back in and turn on. Wait until the light is solid, indicating its ready to go, and then press and hold the green button until the lights flash. It should produce a demo print for you. If it doesnt, the problem may be with the printer, not the computer. Also, check in the "Printers and Faxes" settings in the control panel (if you are running windows) to see that the 2550 is set as the default printer.
There are some possibilities due to the above phenomena. Let's discuss about it: 1) If the POWER light is flashing green, then your printer is now warming up or performing maintenance procedure (replacing cartridge/tank) or cleaning print head, just wait a few seconds till the light stop flash. Also if the last page of a print job not done, this POWER light flashing green. 2) If the CHARGE/ERROR light is flashing orange with beep 3times, it mean your cartridge need to be install (especially the 1st time turn on printer) or cartridge being replaced, just install the cartridge and press RESUME to continue. 3) If both POWER light is flashing green and CHARGE/ERROR light is flashing orange with beep 3times, then your printer may facing a very serious error and maybe need a replacement.
You will see 3 led lights on the printer. They will blink continously if:
if the print cartridge status light is flashing
-- check if the top cover is open, Close the top cover. -- there may be a problem with a print cartridge 1. Verify that the correct print cartridges are installed. 2. Check if a print cartridge is low on ink or improperly installed.
if the resume light is flashing
-- the printer may be out of paper 1. Place paper in the In tray. 2. Press the Resume button on the front of
-- the printer may be ready to print the second side of a two-sided document 1. Follow the onscreen instructions for printing the second side. 2. Press the Resume button.
if the power light is flashing
-- the printer is preparing to print -- The light stops flashing when the printer has received all data.
if all lights are flashing
-- the printer may need to be restarted 1. Press the Power button to turn off the printer, then press the Power button to restart the printer.Proceed to step 2 if the lights continue to flash. 2. Press the Power button to turn off the printer. 3. Disconnect the printer from the power source. 4. Reconnect the printer to the power source.Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
